On December 25th, UAnimals lawyers addressed the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine with proposals to amend Order No. 579 dated July 9, 2018, “On approval of requirements for the use and accounting of the civil defense protective structures fund.” This document prohibits bringing animals into bomb shelters.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Recently, this order was referred<\/a><\/span> to by the educational manager Oleksiy Sukennikov when explaining why a school security guard did not allow children with a dog into the bomb shelter.<\/span> We remind you that at that time, during an air raid alarm, the children had to find alternative shelter, and a Russian missile was shot down<\/a><\/span> just above them. Therefore, the provisions of Order No. 579 create risks not only for the lives of animals but also for people.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to the rules, the school administration justified the security guard’s decision by claiming that other people in the shelter might be allergic to animals. Considering this, UAnimals lawyers propose allowing animals in shelters with means that help distance dogs from people with allergies if necessary.<\/span> Thus, depending on the type and size of the animal, it should be on a leash or in a carrier. Moreover, according to UAnimals’ proposal, dogs of dangerous breeds<\/a><\/span> should be in the shelter with muzzles for the safety of surrounding people.<\/span><\/p>\n

The UAnimals team hopes for cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine because these changes are important. The country needs humane rules and laws!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
