Four kittens and a young cat have recovered from feline calicivirus and panleukopenia virus thanks to the donations UAnimals received for their treatment, totaling over 100,000 hryvnias.<\/span><\/p>\n

Calicivirus<\/span> is a virus that, if not treated, can be fatal, affecting the eyes and later the respiratory organs of the infected animal. Panleukopenia<\/span> is a highly contagious acute viral feline disease that leads to intoxication, fever, and gastrointestinal problems.<\/p>\n

Both diseases were diagnosed in the cats that the UAnimals team evacuated from Kramatorsk<\/span>, Donetsk, in November. Therefore, they spent more than two weeks in stationary treatment and quarantine to avoid infecting other animals.<\/p>\n

Afterward, they were taken in by the Kotohata shelter<\/a><\/span> in Kyiv, managed by Katerina Ilchenko.<\/p>\n

“One of the kittens had a relapse, and he had to go to the clinic again. Also, all five had ringworm after the illness, so Kuzmich still has bald ears,”<\/em> says Katerina.<\/p>\n

Currently, all the animals are healthy.<\/span> Two white-coloured kittens have already found homes, while the others from the litter are still waiting for adoption.<\/p>\n
