The High-Level Working Group on the Environmental Consequences of the War has developed the Environmental Compact for Ukraine<\/span>, which was presented to government officials and representatives of non-profit organizations in Ukraine. The compact addresses the issue of assessing the impact of the war on the environment and ways to request compensation from russia for the damage caused. The document also includes recommendations for nature restoration.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Working Group on the Environmental Consequences of the War included representatives from the Ministry of Ecology, the General Prosecutor’s Office, and the Office of the President, as well as government officials and experts from various countries.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Through this document, we provide the world with new methodologies, technologies, and standards for assessing environmental damage during the war,”<\/em> said co-chair of the High-Level Working Group, former Foreign Minister of Sweden, Margot Wallstr\u00f6m. She emphasized that a significant portion of the recommendations outlined in the compact pertains to civil society.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Environmental Compact for Ukraine will serve as a groundwork for specific political decisions.<\/span> It will be used at the Global Peace Formula Summit convened by Ukraine. Within the framework of the summit, a working group on ecological safety will operate.<\/span><\/p>\n

Olexander Todorchuk, the founder of UAnimals, underlines the importance of cooperation between the government and <\/span>public organizations<\/span>: “We are very grateful for the work done and the drafting of this document. The next step is to move from words to actions<\/span> and make changes in legislative fields. For this, cooperation between parliament, government, and non-governmental organizations is extremely important. Representatives of UAnimals are ready to actively participate in this work.”<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
