UAnimals have sent proposals to the city councils of regional centers and some other cities. Lawyers suggest that local deputies review the rules for keeping animals in their regions. If taking pets into establishments is prohibited, this rule is proposed to be repealed. UAnimals insist that owners of establishments across the country should have the right to decide independently whether to allow animals.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rules for keeping pets are approved by local councils. In some cities, the decision to admit animals into cafes and shops already lies with the owners. In others, it is prohibited to bring animals, or there are neither explicit permissions nor prohibitions.<\/p>\n

For example, in Chernivtsi, Netishyn, Khmelnytskyi, Pavlohrad, Kropyvnytskyi, Kryvyi Rih, and other cities, it is officially prohibited to take animals into shops and cafes.<\/p>\n

Allowing more shops to admit animals with their guardians would help eliminate contradictions with Article 22 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Protection of Animals from Cruelty.” This article prohibits leaving a tethered dog unattended in public places. Despite this, dog guardians often enter shops while walking their pets and tie their dogs outside the store.<\/p>\n

Moreover, many establishments themselves want to be pet-friendly<\/span>.<\/p>\n
