The UAnimals team is inviting anyone interested to join their fundraiser for equipment that will allow humane capture of stray dogs and cats<\/span>. This equipment will be distributed to 6 shelters across 4 regions.<\/p>\n

Animal welfare workers often have to capture stray animals for sterilization or medical assistance. In most cases, capturing animals without special equipment is impossible: tools like cat traps, dog-catching loops, and protective gear are essential<\/span>.<\/p>\n

UAnimals plans to purchase these items for the following shelters:<\/p>\n

– “Homeless World,” “Little Dziga,” and “Phoenix” in the Kyiv region;
\n– “Dreams of Tavria” in Kherson;
\n– “Animal Protection League ‘Chance'” in Dnipropetrovsk region;
\n– “Kind Heart” in the Sumy region\u044e<\/p>\n

\u201cAlmost every day, we try to capture cats and dogs for sterilization,\u201d <\/em>says Natalia Stupak, a volunteer from Sumy. \u201cWorking with bare hands is both dangerous and ineffective. It\u2019s hard to gain the trust of a cat or dog that has been let down before; many remain wild. However, they need to be sterilized to prevent uncontrolled breeding. That\u2019s where capture tools come in handy.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Besides planned captures for sterilization, animal welfare workers often encounter situations where an animal is suffering but won\u2019t approach people. To help them, the animal has to be caught with special tools. Recently, for example, a stray dog in Pavlohrad got a plastic bottle stuck on its head and lived like that for a week, injuring its neck. The “Animal Protection League” captured the dog and provided help. The dog is now doing well.<\/p>\n
