According to the organizers, <em>\u201cHumane treatment, the creation of an inclusive environment for cohabitation, and responsible adoption of animals reflect a mature society.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-29743 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/uanimals.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/a134-600x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/uanimals.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/a134-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/uanimals.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/a134-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/uanimals.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/a134-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/uanimals.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/a134-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/uanimals.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/a134.jpg 1980w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Journalists submitted 160 stories covering topics such as animal adoption and rescue during the war, its impact on biodiversity, and the work of shelters. Participants explored questions like making urban spaces more animal-friendly and shared stories of animals with disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>The winners are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Danylo Bumatsenko<\/strong>, for his piece &#8220;How Hetmanskyi National Park Is Recovering from Occupation,&#8221; <em>UAnimals Media<\/em> \u2014 grand prize.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Iryna Tanasiychuk<\/strong>, &#8220;Pet-friendly or Not?
