The offenders face up to 8 years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>A video showing the abuse of the animals was published by social media user <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/watch\/?v=1587590528792411\">Inna Melnychuk<\/a><\/span>. Following the release of the footage, UAnimals filed a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/uanimals.org\/en\/news\/uanimals-filed-a-police-report-over-farmers-abuse-of-a-pig-in-ternopil-region\/\">complaint<\/a> <\/span>with the Main Directorate of the National Police in Ternopil Oblast. The cross-party parliamentary group <em>Humane Country<\/em> also reported the incident to the police.<\/p>\n<p>The three men captured on video will be tried under Article 299 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for cruelty to animals, which led to the animals&#8217; deaths.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Prosecutor General\u2019s Office, a worker from the agricultural company <em>Continental Farmers Ukraine<\/em> was harvesting corn in the field, assisted by two drivers transporting the crops.<br \/>\n<em>&#8220;A wild boar was caught in the harvester. The animal was unable to move properly due to severe leg injuries. Taking advantage of the boar\u2019s helpless state, the accused inflicted additional injuries with a metal wrench and a knife,&#8221;<\/em> the Prosecutor General\u2019s Office <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo\/?fbid=1068653235297509&amp;set=a.290853076410866\">wrote<\/a><\/span> on its Facebook page.<\/p>\n<p>The men voluntarily compensated over 300,000 UAH for environmental damages.
