A cat named Ozzy became a blood donor for another cat, Musia. Musia\u2019s guardian found Ozzy through the UAnimals Blood Donation Platform<\/a><\/span>. The transfusion was performed on March 19 in Vinnytsia, marking the second successful transfusion facilitated by the platform this March.<\/p>\n

Olena brought her 8-year-old cat, Musia, to a veterinary clinic for a tooth extraction. A blood test was required for the procedure, and the results revealed that Musia had a low red blood cell count and needed a transfusion<\/span>. The exact cause of this condition has not yet been determined. Ozzy, a 5-year-old cat, turned out to be a suitable donor.<\/p>\n

“The prognosis is still very cautious,”<\/em> Musia\u2019s guardian shared after the transfusion. “She is still suspected to have leukemia or immunodeficiency\u2026 But for the first time in a while, she led me to the kitchen to ask for food<\/span> instead of me bringing her a plate. She\u2019s sharpening her claws, grooming herself. I really want to believe these are good signs that she\u2019s getting better\u2026 No matter how this ends, Ozzy has practically saved her life<\/em>.”<\/p>\n

Ozzy, the donor cat, also has a difficult past. “She has been with me for almost five years. As a kitten, she was abandoned in an apartment building hallway with her whiskers and eyelashes cut off. Later, she even raised another kitten that had also been abandoned,”<\/em> shared Ozzy\u2019s guardian, Anastasia.<\/p>\n
