UAnimals activists reminded the world that due to the war in Ukraine, steppe eagles, brown bears, Eurasian lynxes, black storks, and spotted eagles could disappear forever.<\/em><\/p>\n

The activists temporarily placed stars with the names of these animals’ species next to the stars of Tom Cruise, Frank Sinatra, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and other prominent people honored on the Walk of Fame for their contributions to the arts and entertainment industry.<\/p>\n

“Russia is committing ecocide and ecoterrorism in Ukraine, deliberately destroying all living things. Due to missile attacks, explosions, landmines, and other barbaric actions of the Russians, both wild and domestic animals are dying in large numbers. Additional sanctions should be imposed against the terrorist country for the ecocide committed against Ukraine. It should be held responsible for violating ecological security in Ukraine and be involved in restoring the Ukrainian ecosystem after the war by paying reparations,” says UAnimals founder Alexander Todorchuk.<\/p>\n

In total, more than 80 species of animals are threatened with extinction, which UAnimals activists reminded Hollywood’s Walk of Fame visitors.<\/p>\n

20% of Ukraine’s protected areas suffer from the war, and millions of animals have already perished.<\/p>\n

Ten national parks, eight nature reserves, and two biosphere reserves are occupied, and in some of them, Russians allow hunting and shooting of wild animals that were under protection.<\/p>\n

Therefore, UAnimals launched the international campaign #StopEcocideUkraine, which aims to hold Russia accountable for the ecological crimes committed during the war in Ukraine. As part of the initiative, activists communicate with Ukrainian and foreign politicians and hold rallies in various parts of the world, from Warsaw to New York and from London to Prague. For example, within the #StopEcocideUkraine campaign in New York, a Russian missile “landed.”<\/p>\n
