They want to draw the attention of the global community to the destruction of the unique Dzharylhach Island by russians. Actions within the #StopEcocideUkraine campaign took place in the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Norway, and the Czech Republic. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4880\" src=\"https:\/\/uanimals.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Group-15-1-600x120.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"772\" height=\"154\" srcset=\"https:\/\/uanimals.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Group-15-1-600x120.png 600w, https:\/\/uanimals.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Group-15-1-1024x204.png 1024w, https:\/\/uanimals.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Group-15-1-768x153.png 768w, https:\/\/uanimals.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Group-15-1-1536x306.png 1536w, https:\/\/uanimals.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Group-15-1-2048x409.png 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 772px) 100vw, 772px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the General Staff&#8217;s information, the russians connected Dzharylhach Island with the occupied mainland part of the Kherson region by filling the passage to the island with sand. They did this to use the protected area for military purposes, including setting up a training ground.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dzharylhach Island is home to unique coastal groups of dolphins and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">porpoises<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The closure of the strait, among other things, poses a risk of sedimentation and degradation of the entire Dzharylhach Bay ecosystem.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The international community must pay attention to another crime against nature and hold Russia accountable for its actions during the war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This weekend, UAnimals activists took to the streets in solo pickets in European cities.
