STORIES ABOUT ANIMALS AND COMPASSION

About us

UAnimals media is an online publication about humane attitude to animals and nature as a whole. We share stories of people who help animals and save the environment – from individuals to public organizations, businesses, governments and international initiatives. Also, we expose those who exploit animals, promote animal cruelty, and commit environmental crimes.

We are a niche slow journalism publication. At UAnimals Media, we delve into topics, meticulously working on our texts and involving fact-checking experts.

A team of freelance writers and illustrators. If you would like to join us, check the information below.

Our audience

We write for people who are interested in the environment and have an opinion on human interaction with nature. With evidence-based information, real-life cases, and empathy, we promote the value of every life, compassion, and eco-awareness.

Our topics

At UAnimals Media, we advocate for freedom and natural habitat for wild animals, the subjectivity of domestic animals instead of consumerism, and good living conditions for pets. Furthermore, we focus on writing about animal rescue and saving the environment from people’s negligence and cruelty.

Our mission

We aim to change people's attitudes towards animals – from cruelty and indifference to responsibility and compassion. Therefore, we explore the issues of animal protection, environment preservation, and people's interaction with nature.

Join us on freelance

We are open for collaborations with talented people. If you think your features will make UAnimals media better, please consider sending your resume, portfolio and ideas to the editorial email media@uanimals.org (after carefully reading the text below).

What should you know before working with UAnimals?

A portfolio is better than a resume.

It is more important for us to see how you write or illustrate rather than hear about years of experience and polished skills. Send us projects you're proud of. Even from beginners, we expect something self-written, no matter if unpublished.

Be initiative

Feel free to suggest your ideas for publications, interesting formats, heroes and experts, design experiments, and unconventional references. We have an editorial plan, however, we are always open to adding new projects.

Time matters

When we assign a text for work, we agree on a deadline. In case of any force majeure events or delays, please inform us in advance. We don't work with those who regularly let us down.

Your works will be edited

You've taken our editorial preferences into account, worked hard on the text, and feel proud of the result? That's great, it should be that way! But it doesn't mean we'll publish it without any edits. Our editor will definitely have comments and suggestions for improvement. We promise: it will make your text even better!

Edits from stories’ protagonists – only in exceptional cases

If you've involved experts or other individuals in the preparation of a publication and they request to review the text, don't rush to comply with this request. According to Ukrainian law, even interviews can be conducted without approval from interviewees. In such cases, please inform our editor, and she will guide you on how to proceed.

Great if you are a Private Entrepreneur

If you are a Private Entrepreneur, our cooperation will follow a simple and convenient scenario: you write a great text, sign a contract on the "Vchasno" service, and we make payments to your entrepreneurial account. Please note: we pay at the beginning of the month for everything you completed in the previous month. The fee starts from 2,000 hryvnias and depends on the complexity of the task.

We can decline

We carefully review candidates’ resumes, portfolios, and ideas. If something doesn't align with our values or editorial policy, we reserve the right to decline cooperation and may not provide reasons for doing so.

What should media outlets know before reprinting materials from UAnimals media?

We dream of spreading awareness about animal rights and environmental assistance to as many people as possible. Therefore, feel free to use our materials if you give us credits in the first paragraph of your reprint, in the caption for any quotes, or in social media posts with a tag to our Instagram or Facebook page.

What can we offer advertisers?

Collaboration based on shared values.

Advertising in UAnimals media is like a friendly recommendation: "Here's a business that cares about animals." Therefore, we don't work with those who violate animal rights or promote anti-humane views. Besides, we don't create political advertising, advise alcohol or tobacco companies, gambling businesses, russian brands, or companies that still operate in the russian market.

Quality content with a mention of your brand or product

Firstly, we ensure that the topic of a publication with an advertisement interests our readers, and the material is useful to them. This way, we get more shares, discussions on social media, and views (and all these people will remember you as sponsors of important content).

Different text formats

You can support the creation of an article, report, interview, quiz, or even an investigation. Let's agree on the format that best fits your idea and goals in promotion.

Sharing on social media

We have Instagram and Facebook pages for Ukrainians, and Instagram and Twitter pages for English-speaking audience. We will make sure that our joint material will reach your target audience.

Thank you for reading us and about us

We would appreciate feedback on our materials — yes, criticism is also welcome, but please be respectful and provide justification.
