Fundraiser for shade nets for animal shelters and rehabilitation centers

Help us protect over two thousand animals from the scorching sun.

We are raising UAH 238,707 (≈$5,364) to purchase and deliver shade nets for 11 shelters in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Zaporizhzhia, Poltava, and Mykolaiv regions.

In summer, animals in open enclosures have almost nowhere to escape the sun. The flooring and metal structures heat up so much that they become painfully hot to the touch, leaving the animals exposed to the scorching rays for hours on end. This causes overheating, severe fluid loss, and puts them at serious risk of heatstroke.

One of the animals who will benefit from this fundraiser is a roe deer named Chubchyk from the Wild Animals Rescue Center. He was found as a tiny fawn with severe injuries that left him barely able to walk. But after months of treatment, he started walking again. Now he lives in a spacious enclosure, and the shade netting will protect him from the blazing heat and help him feel safe and calm.

Another animal who will receive shade netting is a puppy named Rich from Zoofamily shelter. He was born near the combat zone, lost his mother, and was rescued by soldiers. At the shelter, Rich was bottle-fed, and now he’s growing into a curious and incredibly affectionate little pup.

With the funds raised, we will purchase 48 shade nets with a total coverage area of over 4,600 square meters, along with the necessary mounting hardware for their installation. All kits will be delivered to the shelters, where the nets will be installed over enclosures and areas for walks.

These nets block up to 80-90% of direct sunlight, create shade, and help significantly reduce temperatures in the animals’ living spaces. They are durable, UV-protected, and will last for many summer seasons to come.
