“Everything was wonderful! Thank you so much for this opportunity. I will definitely come again,” one of the volunteers wrote after walking dogs at a shelter in the Poltava region. And it seems to be the most accurate description of how the day went.

On March 7, 44 volunteers from the UAnimals community visited shelters in the Kyiv and Poltava regions. Together they walked 130 dogs from the shelters “Patron Pet Center,” “Dvornyashkam Dim,” and “Kytskin Dim ‘Mokri Nosi.’”

For shelter staff, this is real support. For the animals, it means socialization and simple human attention — something they often lack.

Dog walking is just one of the initiatives that volunteers from the UAnimals community regularly join. They help with evacuations, support shelters, and take part in various activities across Ukraine and even beyond its borders.

Today, the community already includes nearly four thousand people — and each of them once took their very first step.
