A Disabled Dog Can Now Run Thanks to Gifts from UAnimals’ Secret Santas

Shelter animals in 6 regions of Ukraine received New Year’s gifts from Secret Santas — the volunteers of UAnimals. Around 400 packages filled with essential and comforting items for animals were sent to shelters.

Volunteers purchased leashes, collars, beds, blankets, treatments, medications, diabetic food, bowls, toys, warm winter clothing, and even medical equipment. All these gifts were delivered to 8 shelters:

  • Hostomel Shelter in Kyiv Oblast;
  • Kotonosiki in Kyiv;
  • Home Where Love Lives in Mykolaiv;
  • Sumy Animal Protection Society Shelter;
  • Druh in Dnipro;
  • Animal Protection League Shans in Pavlohrad, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast;
  • Kytskin Dim in Zaporizhzhia;
  • Zoohelp in Oleksandriia, Kirovohrad Oblast.
Inspection of the gifts

One special gift was made possible by a group of caring individuals who pooled their funds to help a dog named Liusia from the Zoohelp shelter. Last year, Liusia was hit by a car, leaving her back legs paralyzed. This New Year, Liusia received a wheelchair — and now she can run again!

Lusya the dog

UAnimals shared Liusia’s story, along with those of 24 other animals, with the volunteers who sent them gifts and even postcards. The donated items will benefit not just these animals but many of their shelter neighbors as well.
