On UAnimals’ First Evacuation Mission of 2025, the Entire Rescue Team Took Part. UAnimals’ first evacuation mission of 2025 saw the participation of the entire rescue team. From Donetsk region, 79 animals were evacuated: 43 dogs, 34 cats, and two goats. Additionally, the team assisted one person in leaving the area.
One of the passengers on the mission was a cat named Bilyash from Pokrovsk, who ultimately found a permanent home with one of the rescuers.
Vlad Myachev and Daryna Numerova traveled to Kramatorsk, where they collected 20 dogs from volunteers. These animals had previously been evacuated from Toretsk.
Meanwhile, Danylo Koval and Hanna Ponyrko went to Pokrovsk. There, they assisted Ms. Lyuba, who lived near enemy positions and cared for 28 cats and numerous stray dogs. The team found her a new home in Khmelnytskyi region. Danylo and Hanna transported 20 of her cats and several dogs, transferring some to Vlad and Daryna before continuing their mission.
The team visited Pokrovsk, Rodynske, Bilytske, and Sloviansk. From Serhiyivka in Pokrovsk Raion, they picked up two goats, which were transported to their owner in Poltava Oblast. They then returned to Pokrovsk to fetch Ms. Lyuba and the remaining animals.

In the meantime, Vlad delivered the cats to a clinic. From there, the animals were to be transported by Oleksandr Pohrebnyi.
“I handed over the vehicle to Uncle Sasha, who planned to drive the dogs to Khmelnytskyi Oblast,” Vlad explained. “But one carrier got hidden behind the dog cages, and it was too late to take the cat to the clinic that evening. So, I brought him home for the night. I let him out of the carrier so he wouldn’t have to stay in it. I have a dog and a cat at home. This new cat was so calm — he got along great with both the dog and the cat. My family said, ‘Maybe we should keep him? He’s so cool.’”
Ms. Lyuba, the cat’s previous caretaker, agreed to the relocation. While living in Pokrovsk, the cat was named Bilyash. Once he became a Kyiv resident, he was renamed Leo.
