The russian military attached a Starlink satellite terminal and a camera to a horse, presumably for communication or reconnaissance purposes. This was reported by UNITED24 with reference to materials from OSINT investigators.
The published videos and photos show russian soldiers and horses with improvised frames attached to them with flat satellite terminals and, presumably, cameras. It is noted that such equipment is most likely used not as a combat platform, but for communication or assessing the situation on the ground.

According to investigators, russian units are increasingly using animals in the war against Ukraine, particularly in areas with destroyed infrastructure or a lack of equipment. Previously, there have been cases of horses being used to transport units near Ukrainian positions, particularly in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk Oblast.
Russian military bloggers explain this practice as “low-tech mobility”: animals do not require fuel, move quietly, and, according to the occupiers, are less noticeable to equipment. At the same time, horses remain completely defenseless and vulnerable — both to attacks and to the consequences of exploitation.
For us, this case is yet another confirmation that the cruelty and disregard for life on the part of the Russian military knows no bounds. Animals already suffer daily from the war — they are killed in shelling and left homeless and uncared for. Their use as “equipment” in war is violence that must be called by its name and documented.
