Patron the cat from Kremenchuk (photo above) became a blood donor for Biliash from Dnipro. Their caregivers connected through the Donor Platform. This marks the tenth successful transfusion facilitated by this platform—all ten procedures have been successful.
Biliash suffers from leukemia and requires a blood transfusion every two weeks. His caregiver, Olha, has to search for donors not only in Dnipro but also in other cities.
Victoria from Kremenchuk responded to her request on the platform. Her cat, Patron, met all the criteria for a potential donor: he is three years old (between two and six years old), vaccinated, free of chronic diseases, and weighs over 4.5 kilograms—precisely 6.3 kilograms, to be exact.
“I was probably more nervous than my cat because I had to drive him from Kremenchuk to Dnipro myself… They took a blood test to check compatibility with the patient, and when they confirmed he was a match, I almost cried,” Victoria shared. “After the transfusion, I didn’t notice any changes in him… He was just as active and playful as always,” she added.
The Donor Platform simplifies the search for animal blood donors. Thanks to it, veterinarians have already performed 10 successful blood transfusions.
