During an evacuation mission from January 11–15 in the Donetsk region, UAnimals rescuers Vlad Myachev and Darya Numerova convinced a family from Oleksiivka to give up a wild boar to a shelter. The family initially planned to flee with the boar, intending to eventually eat him.
The boar originally came to the family from a farm breeding wild pigs. The farm’s owners had fled due to the war, leaving the boar behind. However, the family who took him in also decided to evacuate and sought help from UAnimals. Vlad and Darya transported two of their goats and three dogs to a new home in the Kirovohrad region, while the boar was taken to the “Animal Rescue Home” shelter in the Poltava region.
During the evacuation, in addition to these animals, the rescuers brought 14 cats and 29 dogs out of the frontline zone.

This shaggy giant, named Misha, was found by soldier Oleksandr in a village on the border between Donetsk and Luhansk regions. “He was abandoned and chained, surviving heavy shelling. He’s not aggressive at all. Not a dog but a gentle giant,” Oleksandr shared. Misha was initially sent to the “Animal Rescue Home” shelter in Poltava but was later adopted by a family in Lutsk. He is now happily settled there.

Meet Zhorik, a timid dog from Pokrovsk. He ran away from his owner during her evacuation but later returned to the house where he lived. A neighbor looked after him until UAnimals arrived. Zhorik has now found a home in the Cherkasy region.

These puppies were born in a ravine near Druzhkivka. After their mother died, a local volunteer took them in. The puppies were relocated to Irpin near Kyiv, where volunteer Nastiia Tykha is now caring for them.

Two cats were rescued from soldiers directly at a checkpoint on the way out of Donetsk region. One of them was sent to the soldiers’ friends in the Kyiv region, and the other to a veterinary clinic in Dnipro.
