UAnimals financed the evacuation of Khan the lion from private property in the Dnipropetrovsk region. He was kept in a small open enclosure, without proper conditions — who knows if the African animal would have survived the cold. So, after negotiations, the owner agreed to transfer him to a rehabilitation center.

Natalia Popova, head of the Wild Animal Rescue Center, evacuated the lion. Due to weather conditions, there was no time to wait: the team left on the night of January 13, and the lion is already on his way. He is currently being transported in a specially equipped vehicle.

UAnimals covered the costs of evacuation and veterinary services — examination, sedation, vaccines, etc.
“We loaded up and left immediately because the lion was freezing. My rescuer’s reflex kicked in. And on the way, I started thinking about where to get the money for this. Thank you very much! You are incredible,” says Natalia Popova.

After transportation, the lion will be under the care of specialists at the Rescue Center. We will report separately on his condition and further place of detention.
This case is another reminder: wild animals should not be in private hands without proper conditions.
Such animals belong in the wild.
