UAnimals helps with demining of “Kamyanska Sich”

UAnimals assisted the management of the Kamyanska Sich National Nature Park by purchasing equipment needed for demining. In particular, they provided a drone for monitoring the park and a mobile system for detecting enemy drones.

Kamyanska Sich is located in the Beryslav district of the Kherson region, on the banks of the Dnipro River. Until November 2022, this area was occupied by russian forces, and heavy fighting took place around the park. The occupiers mined almost the entire territory of Kamyanska Sich.

Demining these lands requires not only sappers but also protection from enemy drones. Since russian forces are now positioned on the opposite bank of the Dnipro, the deminers will have to work within the reach of russian drones. To ensure safety, UAnimals purchased two mobile drone detection systems, MDDSR1 “Xeon-M.”

They also helped acquire a DJI Mavic Air 3 Fly More Combo drone. This drone allows deminers to identify dangerous areas, track fires, and monitor animal movements.

Six volunteers, park employees trained by the special forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, are handling the demining of Kamyanska Sich. In September, UAnimals plans to purchase additional equipment for them, including bulletproof vests, helmets, and anti-mine boots.

This is UAnimals’ first involvement in demining, but it certainly won’t be the last. The organization plans to help other natural parks in Ukraine clear ecosystems of mines.
