On August 27, UAnimals founder Oleksandr Todorchuk participated in a meeting with representatives from the Ministry of Defense, the “State Rear Operator,” the organization “Every Animal,” and religious communities in Ukraine.
The participants discussed the creation of special rations for military personnel who follow plant-based, kosher, or halal diets. “Every Animal” will provide the “State Rear Operator” and representatives of religious communities with developed vegan rations, which could serve as the basis for universal plant-based rations.
“We believe that creating plant-based rations is about respecting our defenders,” said UAnimals founder Oleksandr Todorchuk. “We are glad that this process is moving forward, and we hope that soon the treatment of military personnel will reflect respect for their religious and other beliefs.”
Currently, tens of thousands of service members cannot eat according to their beliefs, including vegan, vegetarian diets, and adherence to fasting. Providing military personnel with the food they need is a matter of dignity, said Deputy Defense Minister Dmytro Klimenkov. UAnimals and “Every Animal” presented him with a vegan ration during the meeting.
It is worth noting that in January 2024, UAnimals signed a memorandum with the “State Rear Operator” to develop plant-based meals for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Since February, the team has also been collaborating with the organization “Every Animal,” which has supported the military with vegan rations since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Together, they are working on a plant-based menu for the military.
Society and the state should provide as much support as possible to those who defend our country and our lives.
