On Saturday, November 23, volunteers from the UAnimals community visited animal shelters in five regions of Ukraine to assist with cleaning efforts. Despite the cold, rain, and snow, over 50 people joined the campaign.
The following shelters were tidied up:
- “Kovcheh” in Odesa;
- “Animal Rescue” in Kharkiv;
- “Myav-Hav” in Dnipro;
- The “Patron” Adoption Center and “Dvorniashkam Dim” in Kyiv;
- “In Good Hands”, “Mala Dzyga”, and the Hostomel Shelter in Kyiv region;
- “Rudy Pes” in Ivano-Frankivsk region.
Volunteers swept and washed floors, windows, and food bowls, and cleared outdoor enclosures of branches and fallen leaves.

One of the volunteers, Anzhelika, shared her experience working at the Hostomel Shelter:
“We started cleaning in the shelter’s hallways, where we swept and mopped the floors. Then we moved outside, raking leaves and trimming tree branches. After the cleanup, there’s a sense of satisfaction because you’re doing something useful for the animals, especially since the shelter staff are often overwhelmed. Plus, working with a group is always more fun. The best fitness routine is helping at a shelter—you end up tired but happy.”
