UAnimals will help treat animals rescued from overcrowded conditions

UAnimals is allocating 200,000 hryvnia to treat animals rescued from horrific overcrowded conditions in the village of Kremenyshche in the Kyiv region. Four seriously ill cats currently in the clinic will receive assistance.

What is known about the private shelter in the village of Kremenyshche?

Animal rights activists, together with the police, found 51 dead animals in the village of Kremenyshche in the Kyiv region, which were being kept at a shelter run by a “volunteer” under the pseudonym Victoria Dika. Another 40 cats and one dog were rescued and immediately taken to veterinary clinics.

According to animal rights activists, the animals were found in critical condition — exhausted, dehydrated, with complications from disease and prolonged improper care. They require long-term treatment, examinations, and rehabilitation.

The Plushka association, headed by animal rights activist Snizhana Bugrik, reported that reports of possible violations at this shelter had been received for a long time, but it was not possible to confirm them immediately. According to them, the woman had been taking in animals for years, supposedly to rescue them.

After receiving initial care, the animals were distributed among volunteers and shelters. Hatul Madan Shelter took over the coordination of treatment and further care.

Law enforcement authorities have opened a criminal case on the fact of cruelty to animals. The investigation is ongoing. The whereabouts of Viktoria Dika are currently unknown.

This is an extremely painful story. We sincerely mourn the animals that died and those that suffered as a result of being kept in this shelter. We thank all the volunteers who went to the site and were able to rescue the animals from these horrific conditions.

We are currently in contact with Hatul Madan Shelter and Kyiv Animal Rescue Group and will coordinate our further actions depending on the condition of the rescued animals and the development of the situation.
