Parasites, Stay Away! Fundraiser for Treatments for Animals in Shelters

Parasites bite cats and dogs day and night, drink their blood, and carry dangerous diseases. Most often, ticks infect dogs with babesiosis (piroplasmosis), which destroys red blood cells. This causes anemia, damage to the kidneys and liver, and as the disease progresses, coma and death can occur. Fleas also cause anemia, as well as dermatitis, and can infect animals with helminths.

In shelters, where dozens or even hundreds of animals live side by side, parasites spread very quickly. That is why treatments are mandatory throughout the year: the ones against fleas and ticks tend to be monthly, and those against helminths are repeated once every one to three months.

We ask you to support a fundraiser for UAH 500,000 (≈$11,200). Thanks to your donations, we will buy medications to treat 1,778 cats and 1,778 dogs.

This project will help expand the circle of organizations that receive our support. Usually, we regularly help shelters that take in animals evacuated by the UAnimals team. This time, we also want to support other organizations that rescue cats and dogs in frontline regions.

We will accept applications for receiving the medications through a chatbot. Officially registered shelters and animal welfare organizations from Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions will be able to submit them. We will verify each application, and for the organizations that pass the verification, we will send the medications.
