UAnimals has launched a fundraiser to purchase parasite treatments for animals in shelters

UAnimals has launched a fundraiser to raise 500,000 hryvnias for flea, tick, and worm treatments for animals in shelters and animal welfare organizations in frontline regions. We plan to use these funds to purchase treatments for 1,778 cats and 1,778 dogs.

This time, we want to expand the circle of organizations that can receive assistance and provide treatments to shelters that rescue cats and dogs in frontline regions.

Why are we raising money for treatments?

Parasites aren’t just a nuisance for animals. Ticks can carry dangerous infections, including babesiosis, which destroys red blood cells and can cause anemia, kidney and liver damage, and — if left untreated — coma and death. Fleas can cause anemia and dermatitis, as well as transmit helminths.

These problems spread more quickly in shelters, where dozens — and sometimes hundreds — of animals live in close quarters. That’s why preventive treatments are needed year-round: for fleas and ticks — usually monthly; for worms — once every one to three months.

Who will receive this help?

UAnimals regularly supports shelters that take in animals evacuated by our team. Now we want to expand this circle and help organizations that rescue cats and dogs in frontline regions, regardless of whether UAnimals evacuated them.

Officially registered shelters and animal welfare organizations from the following nine regions will be able to apply to receive the medications:

• Donetsk;
• Dnipropetrovsk;
• Kherson;
• Odesa;
• Mykolaiv;
• Zaporizhzhia;
• Kharkiv;
• Sumy;
• Chernihiv.

We will accept applications via a chatbot. We will verify each organization and application. Afterward, for those who pass verification, we will prepare and send the medications for treating the animals.
