On Sunday, February 16, a group of Lviv residents gathered to discuss the UAnimals Media report “What Is the Animal Business Really Like?” Nine women and one man participated in the Media Club’s live discussion about the captivity of wild animals for entertainment purposes.
The publication chosen for discussion at the club’s first meeting was an investigative report on the behind-the-scenes reality of the Zviropolis petting zoo in Kyiv. A UAnimals Media journalist interned there and shared their observations.
During the meeting, participants explored effective ways to combat animal cruelty, particularly the exploitation of animals for profit and amusement. “Among the suggested approaches were education, legal action, and leveraging eco-friendly trends. However, above all, it’s crucial for each of us to lead by example and treat animals with respect. This is how we create waves of humanity that ripple through society, like circles on water,” said Katia Nikishova, the event’s moderator and editor at UAnimals Media.
The gathering took place at the Staryi Lev Bookstore-Café. The next Media Club meeting is coming soon—stay tuned for announcements here and on social media! In the meantime, we invite you to explore UAnimals media, where you’ll find more hard-hitting stories on animal rights and environmental issues.
