UAnimals Covered Treatment for a Bird Rescued by Ukrainian Soldiers

шуліка

For the first time within the Treating Animals Cared for by Soldiers project UAnimals has helped save a wild bird. The organization covered over $167 for veterinary care at a partner clinic to treat a black kite. Once fully recovered, the bird will be released back into the wild.

Ukrainian soldiers found the bird with a head and eye injury. They didn’t abandon the animal — instead, they brought it to Dnipro to Olena Rusina, head of the Pegasus shelter.

Olena reached out to UAnimals for help covering the treatment costs. The organization is currently running the Fundraiser for Treating Animals Cared for by Soldiers 4.0 — the fourth round of fundraising to pay for veterinary services for animals rescued or adopted by members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Under the project’s terms, animals must be treated at a UAnimals partner clinic. So Olena took the bird to one of these clinics, where its condition was stabilized and treatment began — fully covered by UAnimals.

The black kite is now recovering at the Pegasus shelter, under the care of animal welfare volunteers. Once it’s ready, it will be released back into the wild.

UAnimals receives all kinds of requests for animal aid. Not all of them fit into an active project, but the organization can sometimes help beyond its projects — if there are enough ongoing donations from the Animal Rescue Club. Join the club — together, we can do even more.
