This past weekend, on October 26–27, 46 volunteers groomed animals in shelters: brushing cats and dogs, trimming nails, and cleaning their ears and eyes. They visited 9 shelters and adoption centers across 5 regions:
– The “Patron” adoption center, two “Kotokhata” shelters, and “Kyiv Cats” in Kyiv;
– “Best Friends” in the Kyiv region;
– The “Little Prince” rehabilitation center in Kharkiv;
– “Meow-Woof” in Dnipro;
– “Lonely Hearts” in Odesa;
– “Kitty’s Home” in Zaporizhzhia.

Fur often gets tangled into knots, which can collect dirt that irritates the skin. That’s why regular grooming is necessary. Additionally, grooming is also a socialization process. The more time animals spend with people, the more they get used to human contact and attention, becoming friendlier. This, in turn, helps shelter animals find families.
