Starting from November 5th, a new toy is available at the Animalism charity shop — a puppy missing its front paw. This toy aims to help adults explain the concept of disability in both people and animals to children. The release of the toy is supported by war veteran and Superhumans Center first-contact specialist, Ruslana Danilkina.
“More Than a Toy” is designed to encourage conversations with children about inclusion and acceptance. These topics are becoming increasingly prevalent in Ukrainian society. Parents and guardians will inevitably need to discuss with children that bodies can be different, but all are deserving of love and respect. At the Animalism shop, they believe one of the best ways to explain complex topics to children is through play.

Ruslana Danilkina, who has a prosthetic leg, supported the toy’s launch: “I feel a great responsibility not only to teach people how to live with a prosthetic but also for our future — the children. It’s crucial now that children are not afraid of this topic and know how to interact with someone who has a disability.”
Along with the toy, buyers receive a puppy passport, where children can record its name and story.
