The UAnimals Team Embarks on a Sterilization Mission in the Dnipropetrovsk Region

On December 16, UAnimals and its partners set off for the city of Samar in Dnipropetrovsk region to treat and sterilize animals. This trip is part of their ongoing veterinary missions to various cities across Ukraine. Joining UAnimals on this mission is the dedicated team from the Accessible Sterilization project.

UAnimals received the application for mass sterilization in Samar back in March.
“This city is home to many displaced persons and low-income families who, unfortunately, cannot afford treatment and sterilization for their pets at private clinics. As a result, many animals end up on the streets, reproducing uncontrollably and suffering from diseases. We plan to help 230 animals,” explained project manager Anastasiia Heichuk.

UAnimals is now able to carry out this project thanks to funds raised by the MasterZoo store chain during their Paw of Care campaign. Shoppers purchased special stickers — so-called care paws — and the proceeds are being used by UAnimals for the Samar mission. A recent mission to Marhanets, also in the Dnipropetrovsk region, was funded by the same initiative.

“We’ve been working with the team of our partners, the doctors from the ‘Accessible Sterilization’ project, for two years now,” shared Anastasiia Heichuk. “When we plan trips to high-risk areas, it’s always the team led by veterinarian Nataliia Sokolova. They’re ready to work under any conditions.”
