UAnimals will hold a series of public demonstrations “Together against ecocide” as part of the #StopEcocideUkraine campaign. Ukrainians abroad and foreigners are encouraged to join the rallies and unite in a symbolic circle to remind the world about russian crimes against nature. The rally is timed to coincide with the anniversary of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant dam explosion. The Russians blew it up on June 6, 2023.
The rallies will take place in London, Amsterdam, Paris, Lisbon, and San Diego (USA) from June 2 to 9. More information about the events can be found at the provided link.
The explosion of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant dam resulted in the largest man-made environmental disaster in Europe in the last decade. Over 80 settlements in southern Ukraine were flooded, people and animals died, tons of machine oil spilled into the Dnipro and Black Sea, and national parks and reserves were affected.
The UAnimals team calls on the international community to document the ecological crimes in Ukraine and to help hold Russia accountable.
“The consequences of Russian crimes against nature will be felt for decades. Russia must be held accountable for them, and the world must not forget this. Therefore, we urge Ukrainians and citizens of other countries to join the actions in their cities. We also remind that Western countries should confiscate 300 billion frozen assets of the Russian Central Bank and direct them towards the defense and reconstruction of Ukraine, particularly for the restoration of territories affected by ecocide,” says UAnimals founder Oleksandr Todorchuk.
Join the rallies—don’t let the world turn it’s back to the ecological crimes in Ukraine!
