On February 16, due to sudden warming and a river overflowing its banks, at least three animal shelters — “Bim,” “Druh,” and “Happy Dog” — were flooded in the Kirovohrad and Dnipropetrovsk regions of Ukraine.
Water quickly covered the shelter grounds. The heads of the shelters, together with emergency services and local volunteers, were forced to evacuate animals by boat. Some dogs suffered from hypothermia. As of February 17, rescue operations are still ongoing.
Evacuation and First Steps of Support
The team of “Pegas” Shelter has already evacuated five animals from “Bim” and is transporting them to our partner veterinary clinic in Dnipro. We will cover the cost of their treatment. Some of the rescued animals are being taken in by “Dobre Sertse” Shelter in Kropyvnytskyi.
We are in contact with all three affected shelters. Part of the emergency aid has already been dispatched from our warehouse to “Bim,” which suffered the most damage. We are sending cages, hay, thermal blankets, chemical warmers, and food for dogs and cats.
What Are We Raising Funds For?
Based on the requests from the flooded shelters — as well as those that have taken in evacuated animals — we are launching a fundraiser to cover:
- Food for dogs and cats;
- Cages for transportation and temporary housing;
- Dog houses to create new safe spaces;
- Diesel heaters to dry and warm the facilities;
- Disposable pads;
- Medical treatment for evacuated animals.
Right now, the most urgent needs are warmth, safe temporary shelter, and veterinary care.
Friends, please support this fundraiser. Every contribution makes a real difference for animals who have lost everything.
We continue to coordinate assistance and will share updates as soon as we receive confirmed information.
