UAnimals and Every Animal to jointly develop a plant-based menu for the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The organizations have signed a memorandum of cooperation. Consequently, they will collaborate on developing a menu for vegan soldiers. To achieve this, public activists will engage dieticians, doctors, and other specialists. Thousands of people in the military do not consume animal products. However, currently, the state does not provide them with vegan food. Creating a sufficiently nutritious plant-based menu for the military is a significant task, says Olga Chevganiuk, the head of UAnimals’ international department: Developing a plant-based menu is a challenge that needs to consider both nutritional needs and the complex logistics in combat conditions. But with the help of experts, this challenge will turn into a task that can be realistically implemented.”

The public organization Every Animal provides military personnel with plant-based rations on a voluntary basis. However, it is insisted by the activists of Every Animal that a nutritious plant-based menu should be implemented within state programs as well. The head of the organization, Tamara Human, says: “Since the beginning of the full-scale war, we have been supporting vegan, vegetarian, and those who do not consume animal products for health reasons among the military. We will do everything in our power to ensure that appropriate rations and menus are introduced at the state level.”

UAnimals has started cooperation in this field with the government as well. In January, the organization signed a memorandum with the State Logistics Operator. This is a structure, which has been recently providing  the AFU with food. UAnimals will assist government officials in developing and implementing a plant-based menu for the military.
