UAnimals and Ukrposhta have released a stamp titled “Protecting the Vulnerable Is the Duty of the Strong” to mark the organization’s 10th anniversary

Today, April 14, an official ceremony to cancel the postage stamp “Protecting the weak is the duty of the strong” took place in Kyiv on Khreshchatyk near the Main Post Office. This joint release by UAnimals and Ukrposhta marks the 10th anniversary of our organization. In a single image, we have captured the journey of animal rescue over the years: from the first rallies in city squares to complex evacuations from frontline zones.

“Protecting the weak is the duty of the strong” UAnimals x Ukrposhta

A UAnimals evacuation vehicle was parked near the cancellation site. This is one of the vehicles used by the UAnimals rescue team to evacuate over 10,000 animals from the frontline. The stamp was canceled with a special postmark reading “Protecting the weak is the duty of the strong.” This phrase became the main message of the event and the choice that Ukrainians make every day during the war.

Concept: Rally on Envelopes

The concept of the issue is “Rally on Envelopes.” Previously, thousands of people took part in Marches for animals, but now, due to the war, such gatherings are impossible. The stamp has become a way to continue speaking out for humanity: each image on it functions as a separate poster calling for the protection of those who cannot stand up for themselves.

The illustration for the stamp was created by artist Daria Galileiska.

“It was important for us to capture the energy of those first mass marches and show that people are behind all these changes. Everyone who took part in the protests or helped rescue animals during the war is now part of this story on the stamp,” says Olga Matsko, head of the Strategic Initiatives Department at UAnimals.

How to buy the UAnimals stamp?

The issue includes a sheet of nine stamps and an art envelope with a special postmark. You can purchase them online at Ukrposhta Market, at the “My Own Stamp” section, and at philatelic shops in Kyiv at 22 Khreshchatyk Street and 16/4 Andriy Sheptytsky Street.
