At the request of the military, we worked with veterinarians and a rescuer from the “Affordable Sterilization” project to help 36 cats and dogs.
The “pets.sterilisation” project team and UAnimals conducted a one-day veterinary mission at a military training ground (for security reasons, we are not disclosing the location of the mission). The veterinarians performed sterilizations, vaccinations, and treatments on animals living near Ukrainian military personnel.
The format of this trip differed significantly from our typical veterinary missions to front-line communities. The mission was initiated by the soldiers themselves: they care for the animals on the training ground, so they reached out to UAnimals and asked for help with spaying and neutering.
Throughout the day, the veterinarians examined and treated dozens of animals:
Andriy, a trapper from the “Accessible Sterilization” project, was also working on-site—he trapped 14 animals that needed sterilization and medical care.
Incidentally, a sick kitten was also brought to the veterinarians after being trapped. After an examination and treatment plan, the soldiers took the animal under their care and said they would administer medication until the kitten recovers.
Thank you to the “Accessible Sterilization” project team that worked on this mission, and to the soldiers who, despite everything, care for the animals.
