In a single trip, members of the UAnimals evacuation team transported 61 animals and 1 person from the front-line territories. Specifically, they evacuated Mrs. Lyudmyla, along with her 14 ducks, 3 cats, and 2 dogs, from the city of Bilytske in Donetsk Oblast.
“I stayed at home until the last moment because I have animals, and I didn’t want to leave them behind. I decided to leave when russians shelled a town just 5 km away from us. I thought that soon they would reach us too,” shares Mrs. Lyudmyla.
Some of the animals she rescued from the streets and nursed back to health. For example, she found the cat Milka near dumpsters, and the dogs were found as puppies in a field.
Now, Mrs. Lyudmyla with her animals has settled in Vinnytsia Oblast. In her new place, she immediately took in two more animals: a dog and a cat.
“On the first day when I arrived, I cried because I didn’t know how we would settle here. But then I pulled myself together, and my animals didn’t let me be sad. I’m already insulating kennels for the dogs, and kind people helped with firewood and provisional food,” says Mrs. Lyudmyla. At the age of 65, she is ready to start anew along with her animals.
