To replace the vehicle destroyed by a drone, UAnimals purchased a new evacuation van. Gaur is already out on the road and helping to save animals.
UAnimals now has two rescue vehicles again. The new van is already on the road, helping to evacuate animals from frontline areas. The vehicle was purchased thanks to the support of PUMB Bank, which joined our fundraiser and donated 1.6 million hryvnias toward its purchase. The cost of converting the van was covered by caring Ukrainians who supported the fundraiser.
In December 2025, a russian drone destroyed the UAnimals evacuation van. The people and animals inside the vehicle survived, but the team lost its vehicle, without which regular evacuation trips became significantly more difficult.
For UAnimals, every vehicle represents an opportunity to save several hundred lives each month. So after losing the vehicle, we were forced to launch a fundraiser for a new van and its retrofitting.
The new evacuation vehicle is a Volkswagen Crafter. The team chose this model specifically because of its size and ability to safely transport a large number of animals. Following UAnimals’ tradition, every evacuation vehicle is given its own name. The new van was named Gaur. And it’s already serving its purpose: on its first few trips, Gaur transported dozens of animals from frontline areas.
For example, at the end of August, the team traveled to the Donetsk region. During that trip, they managed to evacuate 28 dogs, 10 cats, and a guinea pig. After the evacuation, some of the animals went to their families, while others were placed in shelters.
We would very much like the day to come when evacuation vans no longer have to travel to frontline areas, because there would simply be no need to rescue animals from the war. But as long as the war continues, we will keep going wherever animals remain in danger.
