UAnimals to cooperate with the Prosecutor General’s Office regarding punishment for crimes against nature

The Prosecutor General’s Office will develop proposals for assessing environmental crimes. Public organizations, including UAnimals, and foreign experts will help formulate new rules. Currently, the UAnimals’ task is to spread information abroad about the facts of ecocide in Ukraine.

The International Criminal Court is updating its policy on environmental crimes. Therefore, various countries are providing proposals to the court on which specific crimes should be included in the program document and which practices will help to more effectively conduct judicial processes.

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine will submit its proposals to the International Criminal Court by March 16. Representatives of the prosecutor’s office, experts in international criminal and humanitarian law, and civil activists will jointly propose new practices.

UAnimals will collaborate with the Prosecutor General’s Office primarily as a communication partner. “Our cooperation with the Prosecutor General’s Office now is an informational action, says Olga Chevganyuk, head of the international department at UAnimals. “We hold events abroad so that both the general public and decision-makers in Europe are aware of the destruction of nature in Ukraine due to the war.”

Let’s speak louder about ecocide in Ukraine – russians must be held accountable.
