Ukrainian actors call to support animals at the Guarantee Shelter in Kherson

Ukrainian actors have lent their support to the fundraising efforts initiated by UAnimals for the Guarantee shelter in Kherson after the shelling. The funds are being collected for 25 large insulated kennels for the affected animals and 500 kilograms of hay for insulation. Currently, 49 dogs are residing in the shelter.

Stars of several popular Ukrainian movies and TV series, including To Catch the Kaydash’s, Hrygoriy Baklanov, and First Swallows’ Maxym Devizorov, as well as actresses Anastasiia Pustovit (from When Trees Fall), Maryna Koshkina (from Blindfold), Kateryna Grygorenko (fromThere Will Be People), and Anastasiia Tsymbalaru (Girls), have come together to record an appeal for donations to a campaign.

In December 2023, a Russian shell exploded near the Guarantee shelter in Kherson. The head of Guarantee, Katerina Skrypnyk, mentioned that the shockwave damaged the shelter’s fence and knocked down the gates. Additionally, all the windows in the administrative premises were shattered, the insulation foam for winter kennels was destroyed, and even the hay for bedding was scattered. The impact also caused damage to the dog enclosures: some locks were broken, and the dogs, frightened, scattered throughout the suburb. Until the next morning, shelter staff were searching for and retrieving lost and frightened animals, though some returned on their own.

“Now they need help: food, warmth, shelter, and money. Please help close this campaign. We beg you,” said actors from the Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theater in a video about the animals from the Guarantee shelter.

Any support for UAnimals’ fundraising is assistance to the animals. So, contribute financially or share the information—compassion saves lives!
