Volunteers Mariya Holovina and Andriy Zhdanov Evacuated 17 Animals from Donetsk Region

Volunteers from UAnimals continue to assist with the evacuation of animals from dangerous areas. Last week, the couple Mariya Holovina and Andriy Zhdanov evacuated dogs and cats from Selydove in the Donetsk region. This was their fourth evacuation trip.

A family from Selydove contacted UAnimals: they planned to leave due to heavy shelling but were unable to transport all their animals on their own. Mariya and Andriy took five dogs, four cats, and a red-eared turtle in a bucket from them. They transported all the animals to the Dnipropetrovsk region, where part of the family had already settled. Consequently, the remaining family members in Selydove were also able to leave.

“It’s very loud in Selydove,” says volunteer Mariya. “I’m glad this family is leaving. They have two houses, both damaged, and they need to evacuate from both. The owner, with tears in her eyes, said: ‘Our animals are our family, how can we leave without them?’ These are truly people who needed our help.”

Additionally, Mariya and Andriy took seven kittens from military officer Valeriya Bubanova, who had been living at the positions. The young ones went to Tetiana Nelha’s shelter in Pavlysh, Dnipropetrovsk region, while the older ones were taken to the “ShchasSpasu” animal center in Kyiv.

If you can’t go to dangerous areas but really want to help with the evacuation, buy a ticket for an evacuation trip. Rescuers feel that those who helped them are with them every kilometer of the challenging journey!
