In April, we continued to save animals from the war with your help. Also, we held actions on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood and six continents on Earth Day as part of the international campaign #StopEcocideUkraine. We are grateful to everyone who supports us with hryvnia, information or other means.

For April 2023:
● We managed to help 20,474 animals (9,155 animals received financial assistance, 3,172 animals were sterilised, 7,959 animals received food, and 188 animals were evacuated);
● the total amount of financial expenses was UAH 10,300,497.59. This amount includes financial assistance, payment for sterilisations, reconstruction of shelters, project implementation, purchase and shipment of feed, logistics, purchase of medicines and treatment, evacuation, costs of supporting wild animals of the Wild Rescue Centre of Natalia Popova and UAnimals, administrative costs and purchases on request. 28 223 kilograms of dog and cat food were shipped from our warehouse to more than 45 cities/towns in Ukraine;
2,446 cats and 726 dogs were sterilised as part of our free sterilisation programme for stray animals. We also carried out on-site sterilisations in Yuzhnoukrainsk, Kaniv, Gostomel, Karlivka, Kegychivka, Bilopillya, Boyarka and Berdychiv;
● our legal department sent 3 statements to the police and 1 appeal regarding animal cruelty, participated in a meeting of the environmental prosecutor’s office with representatives of NGOs to record environmental crimes, provided advice on animal protection issues received by the hotline, and dealt with other applications, contracts, letters and requests.
More about the month:
● Helped to purchase food and veterinary medicines for 243 dogs and cats in the temporarily occupied Berdiansk, Prymorsk, Tokmak, Vasylivka and evacuated animals from Kostiantynivka;
● purchased and sent vaccines, veterinary treatment products, and antibiotics for 2,395 dogs and cats in Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions; as well as medicines and treatment products for 7 dogs and 22 horses (7 of them evacuated from Kherson, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv), Arion, Odesa; injection fluid and antibiotics for 20 horses (some of them evacuated from Kharkiv oblast) taken care of by the NGO “Horse Club A.D.” in Poltava oblast, as well as for 238 domestic animals (cows, sheep) in Mala Danylivka;
● helped to pay for laboratory tests for a seriously ill cat from Kherson and treatment of two cats in serious condition (1 cat was evacuated from Chasovyi Yar, and the other was found in the ruins of a house after a rocket attack in Mykolaiv region); an injured cat and a seriously ill pony (evacuated from Kharkiv region); transferred injection solutions and syringes for the treatment of a wounded horse in the de-occupied village of Krynky, Kherson region;
● helped to purchase an electric fence for the Yavoriv National Park in Lviv region, which is home to wild tarpon horses;
● supported the Lozova Horse Farm in Kharkiv Oblast and purchased Helmisan for 175 horses;
● purchased 300 bales of hay for 13 horses at the Karavan stable in Kharkiv Oblast;
● supported the Rifugfio animal shelter and purchased 40 bales of hay for 30 ungulates (horses, goats, cows, rams);
● delivered 15 tonnes of hay for 440 animals to the Vuhlyk shelter in Dnipropetrovsk oblast;
● helped to purchase 5 tonnes of oats to feed 250 animals in the Drevlyansky Nature Reserve (wild pigs, roe deer, deer), Zhytomyr region;
● supported the Free Wings bird centre in Kozhychi, which has 260 birds under its care, and helped to purchase construction materials for quarantine enclosures;
● purchased and sent 2 bulletproof vests for service dogs at the request of a bomb disposal dog handler working in the combat zone;
● evacuated 15 cats and dogs and 1 parrot from Avdiivka, 40 cats and dogs from Orikhiv and Gulyaypol, 1 she-wolf from Ovruch district, 1 donkey, 1 dog and 4 puppies from Druzhkivka, 1 cat and 5 kittens from Maksymilianivka, 2 dogs from Kurakhovo, 16 puppies, 2 dogs, 21 cats (3 with disabilities), 6 kittens from Sloviansk, 2 cats, 1 cat and 5 kittens rescued by the military from Bakhmut, 5 dogs and 1 cat from Toretsk, 7 cats from the village. Novozhelanne, Pokrovsk district, 3 dogs, 1 cat and 3 puppies from Chasovyi Yar. We also helped KARG evacuate 12 chickens and 19 dogs from Chasovyi Yar. We evacuated 10 puppies from Kramatorsk and 5 puppies from Konstantinovka;
● equipped with a sterilisation vehicle;
● supported the Babynets shelter (150 animals) with the construction of a quarantine room and enclosures in the amount of UAH 100,000 for repair work and UAH 80,656.73 for building materials;
● supported the Best Friends shelter in Makariv for 800 animals with the construction of a quarantine room – the amount of UAH 321,000;
Victoria Bondarenko’s shelter in Kalynivka for 189 animals – for UAH 473,924 for the construction of enclosures;
UAH 20,000 was transferred to the “Give a Chance” shelter in Sloviansk (200 animals) for the construction of enclosures;
UAH 3,470 was donated to Alona Goncharenko’s shelter (47 animals) for fencing;
● purchased quarantine boxes worth UAH 56,000 and vaccines worth UAH 15,300 for 500 animals of the NGO “Favourite Animals” in Kamianske;
● provided 50 feeders for street animals for UAH 7,364 to 999 animals in Izyum;
● purchased UAH 8,744 worth of medicines and UAH 12,036.60 worth of special feed for 120 animals of Olena Taran, an IDP from Kherson;
● received funds from Dogs Days Are Over for the construction of enclosures in the Babynets shelter;
● completed the Paw of Care campaign with MasterZoo and Visa, selling 57,202 paws over the entire period of the campaign, and will be able to provide medicines and veterinary products to those in need;
● thanks to the MonoMeal, we fed 7,000 animals for UAH 1.2 million
● sold another 250 Dodosocks socks;
● received 4,737 kilograms of Josera food;
● closed the collection to help the dogs of the Antares unit and are finalising the process of purchasing a car and the necessary ammunition for them;
● partnered with Animals United e.V;
● We succeeded in banning fireworks at the legislative level;
● as part of the international campaign #StopEcocideUkraine, stars dedicated to endangered Ukrainian animals due to the Russian war against Ukraine were placed on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood;
● On Earth Day, EcoUnity for Ukraine held an action against ecocide on six continents as part of the international campaign #StopEcocideUkraine.
