In August, UAnimals helped over

11,000 animals

🐕800 kilograms of animal feed were distributed in frontline areas.
🐷 226 pets, farm, and wild animals were evacuated from border regions.
🐎 The fundraising campaign to help horses at the Pegasus shelter was successfully completed, thanks to your donations and half of the total funds provided by Humane Society International.
🐈 Over 302,000 UAH were spent on building animal enclosures in three shelters.
🐕‍🦺 3,847 kilograms of feed were sent to animals in frontline areas.

🐱 100 cats and dogs were sterilized.

🐽 Volunteers cleaned 11 animal shelters across 8 regions of Ukraine, with the help of 75 dedicated volunteers. We are proud!

💵 A total of 7,727,715 UAH was spent on helping animals.

📌More details on animal assistance in August:

🐾 The fundraising campaign for the Pegasus Horse Shelter was completed, thanks to your donations and half of the total amount from Humane Society International.

🐾 Received 14 tons of animal feed from House of Animals, which will be sent to animals in frontline areas.

🐾 Held a live session with Lennard de Klerk discussing climate changes caused by the war and explaining how Russia is destroying not only Ukraine’s environment but also threatening the entire world.

🐾 Cleaned 11 shelters in 8 regions of Ukraine, with 75 amazing volunteers, along with their friends and families.
🐾 Distributed 800 kilograms of feed to animals in frontline areas, specifically in:
– Chornobaivka and Skhidne in Kherson region;
– Bohodukhiv in Kharkiv region;
– Lupariv, Lymany, and Halytsynove in Mykolaiv region;
– Stepnohirsk and Magdalynivka in Zaporizhzhia region;
– Malotaranivka in Donetsk region.
Additionally, distributed veterinary medicines, including antiparasitic treatments for cats and dogs (214 units) in the Mykolaiv, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia areas.
🐾 Together with partners from the Center for Civil Liberties, inspected 356 shelters in nine cities.
🐾 Launched nine online tasks for volunteers, including:
– Promoting a fundraising campaign for shelter animals for Independence Day;
– Sharing information about the Holiday Platform;
– Promoting the English-language Instagram page for international supporters;
– Researching the UAnimals website;
– Raising awareness about the horse carriage business in Lviv;
– Sharing information about cashback for UAnimals;
– Collecting data on shelters in various cities;
– Fundraising for water wells;
– Participating in a viral challenge to raise funds for water wells (creating videos involving water).
🐾 A total of 1,005 volunteers participated in these online tasks.
We also funded the construction of enclosures for the organizations “Team of Lesya’s Animal Volunteers,” the Zoofamily charity fund, and the Forsaken Angel NGO, spending a total of 302,721 UAH.

🐾 Received $8,000 from Harmony Fund for veterinary care and animal sterilization in our mobile veterinary unit.

🐾 Our partners Josera Ukraine donated 11,571 kilograms of animal feed.

🐾 Launched a campaign with the Todli store to raise 300,000 UAH for equipment for service dogs working with emergency responders.

🐾 Held a strategic session on a grant from ISAR Ednannia.

🐾 Received 98,000 UAH for medical kits from our partners at Solidgate.

🐾 Applied for a 10,000 euro grant from the Community Foundation Ireland (SAP) for evacuation and institutional support.

🐾 Collaborated with Infopulse and raised 24,000 UAH on the Holiday Platform.

🐾 Launched a project with Hotline UA — raising funds through bonuses.

🐾 Sent 3,847 kilograms of feed and 1,656 flea collars and treatments for 3,050 animals.
🐾 Paid for the treatment of five puppies suffering from enteritis, previously evacuated from Kherson region in critical condition (this was the final payment for their treatment; they’ve been discharged from the clinic, and we transferred to a shelter).

🐾 Covered the treatment costs for an evacuated dog named Karat, rescued from Donetsk at the request of soldiers. Karat had severe wounds on his back. He is now doing well, and the wounds have healed. He has been discharged from the clinic and transferred to the Babynets shelter in Kyiv region.

🐾 Paid for surgeries for an evacuated husky named Mia, evacuated by our team from Ukrainsk.

🐾 Covered the cost of a comprehensive blood test, the first surgery to remove a tumor, and the removal of a mammary gland for an Alabai named Berta, whom our team evacuated from the Pokrovsk direction in Donetsk region.

🐾 Paid for the treatment, tests, and removal of a mammary gland tumor for a dachshund named Melisa, evacuated by our team from Selydove.

🐾 Evacuated 27 cats and kittens, as well as 27 dogs and puppies from Kharkiv region (Kolisnykivka and Khotimlya) and Donetsk region (Selydove, Ukrainsk, Novohrodivka, Myrnohrad).

🐾 During a transport mission, we also moved:
– Four kittens, evacuated by volunteers from Orikhiv to Dnipro, which were then transferred to the Hostomel shelter;
– Five puppies treated for enteritis in a veterinary clinic in Kryvyi Rih (evacuated by our team from Kherson region during a previous mission), transferred to Pavlysh;
– Seven goats from the zoo in Mezhyhirya to the Mala Dzyha shelter (the zoo requested our help to rehome six Cameroon goats and one other goat);
– A piglet named Fedir from the Mezhyhirya Zoo to the Rifugio shelter. Fedir is an absolutely charming fellow who has been staying at the zoo temporarily.

🐾 Evacuated 16 dogs and puppies, 4 cats, and 20 ducklings from Donetsk region (Novohrodivka, Mykhailivka, Ukrainsk, Selydove, and Novovasylivka in the Pokrovsk district).
🐾 Evacuated 33 animals (including one male and two female goats) from Donetsk region (Myrnohrad, Selydove, Ukrainsk, Sloviansk).
🐾 Evacuated 36 dogs from Myrnohrad, from Svitlana Ostapkova’s shelter, to Dnipropetrovsk region.
🐾 Evacuated 63 animals from Pokrovsk, from Dasha Korkh’s shelter (including 20 dogs, 40 cats, and 3 pigeons) to Cherkasy region.
🐾 In total, the team evacuated 226 animals in August (including 1 male goat, 2 female goats, 3 pigeons, 20 ducklings, and the rest were pets).
🐾 Transported 17 animals (including 1 pig and 7 goats; the rest were pets).
🐾 Volunteers evacuated 81 animals and a person from the border areas, and we provided fuel for the evacuation.
🐾 Sterilized 66 cats and 34 dogs.
🐾 As part of the Protect 500 Animals from Enteritis project, we purchased 500 treatments and 500 vaccines for cats and dogs and sent 139 treatments and vaccines to the Friends of Animals Konotop Animal Protection Organization NGO.
🐾 Purchased everything necessary to implement the VetMission.Kharkiv Region project.
UAnimals’ legal team fought for animal rights 👇
🐾 Processed 49 requests for legal services.
🐾 Analyzed draft orders from the Ministry of Agrarian Policy regarding programs and other regulatory acts on compliance with animal welfare legislation, and prepared comments and suggestions.
🐾 Analyzed the Bill No. 11486 from August 16, 2024, on the protection of water from pollution caused by nitrates from agricultural sources.
🐾 Analyzed draft orders from the Ministry of Agrarian Policy from August 13, 2024, regarding the approval of the procedure for issuing veterinary documents and maintaining the Unified State Register of Veterinary Documents.
🐾 Prepared proposals for the Ministry of Agrarian Policy regarding the draft order from August 13, 2024, on the approval of the procedure for issuing veterinary documents and maintaining the Unified State Register of Veterinary Documents.
🐾 Submitted a revised appeal to the Ministry of Infrastructure with a proposal to develop the Rules for Transporting Pets by Automobile Transport.
🐾 Submitted an appeal to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, urging them to review and support environmental and animal protection bills currently under committee consideration.
🐾 We are also working on the project “On the Identification and Registration of Pets.”
🙌We submitted:
• One criminal complaint (regarding dog killings);
• Two administrative offense reports;
• An appeal concerning mistreatment of a horse in Lviv;
• Two deputies’ appeals to the State Environmental Inspectorate of Ukraine, Lviv city authorities, and the National Police;
• Two requests for information to the Ministry of Environmental Protection regarding issued permits/certificates for keeping wild animals in captivity;
• An appeal to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy with a proposal to amend the Order of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of August 07, 2024 “On Approval of Certain Regulatory Acts on Compliance with Animal Welfare Legislation”;
• An appeal to the Lviv City Council and to Mayor Sadovyi to ban carriage tourist services in the city center and a Petition to ban them, Nastia took part in a broadcast on Suspilne on this matter;
• Inquiries to the police, the Animal Protection Center municipal enterprise, the Mykolaiv City Council, and the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection regarding the case of transportation of dead dogs in Mykolaiv. An MP appeal and a formal appeal from UAnimals were drafted.
