In December:
This month we:
🚚Evacuated 256 animals from the frontline areas, particularly Donetsk, Kherson and Vyshniaky Island in Poltava region.
🔅 Spayed and neutered 658 animals in the fire zones.
🐾Shipped and sent 17,123 kilograms of food for 9,330 cats and dogs.
❗️ Organised international campaigns against Russian ecocide in Ukraine: “Non-Holiday Christmas Tree” (in Portugal), “Dangerous Gift” (in the USA), and “Nature Condemns Russia for Ecocide” (in US national parks).
📚Held the first All-Ukrainian Humane Book Award, where we honoured 3 authors and 3 illustrators.
👆Fought for animal rights and participated in animal protection bills: sent 3 statements to the police about animal cruelty, participated in the development of bills, advised and provided legal support to requests that came to us in private messages, monitored bills on the Agrarian Policy Committee, the Environmental Policy Committee, projects of the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.
💵The total amount of financial expenses was UAH 1,022,586. It included financial assistance, payment for sterilisations, reconstruction of shelters, construction of insulated kennels and winter pens, project implementation, purchase and shipment of feed, logistics, purchase of medicines and treatment, and evacuation.

🐾Financed a stove for cooking at the dog shelter of animal volunteer Olena Bubenko in Kharkiv region for UAH 23 550.
💰Financed the construction of walking areas at the Pegasus shelter. They are for dogs evacuated from Bakhmut, Kherson, and Toretsk (dogs live in cages, and now they will have a particular area for walking). The amount is 218 748 hryvnias.
🐃Paid for constructing winter pens for cows and bulls rescued from slaughter at the Zdrave Zhyttia shelter for UAH 175,364.
🐕Transferred money for four dog enclosures at the Help Global shelter in Mykolaiv for UAH 166,270.
🧱Paid for manufacturing 37 insulated dog kennels (the kennels will go to different shelters) in the amount of UAH 70,650.
🔅Helped to treat animals and processed 10 applications from volunteers for the amount of 109 452 UAH and helped to treat more than 300 animals in our care: Boris Kozin, Dmytro Telyatnik, Olesya Kulyk, Anton Yudin, Yulia Zadorozhna, Charity organisation “No Borders”, Elena Taran, Evgenia Kharlamova, Elena Svich.
We made a large winter purchase as part of the Winter Collection for animals and used the money to buy
– firewood for 4 shelters – 30 m3;
– electric heating pads and electric sheets for animals in the Shelterless World Centre;
– 12 tonnes of coal for animals in Myrnohrad;
– 130 beds;
– 4 stoves for 3 shelters;
– 14 heaters for 4 shelters;
– a ribbon curtain to keep the shelter warm in Gostomel;
– 2 lanterns for Sumy Society for the Protection of Animals;
– hay for animals in the shelter of the Sumy Society for the Protection of Animals;
– hay for the Mala Dzyga shelter;
– 5 inverter generators for animals in the “Homeless World”;
– 1,300 bales of hay and 1,500 bales of straw for animals in Vuhlyk;
– 2 tonnes of peat briquettes for the shelter in Gostomel.
As part of the Festive Fundraiser, we bought buckets for feeding, probiotics and salt for goats.
As part of the First Aid Kit for Three Shelters project, we bought first aid kits for three shelters: “Noses, Mala Dzyga, and Domovochok.
🪵Bought firewood for animals taken care of by the Pokrovske Society for the Protection of Animals.
🌾Bought grain for animals in the Myrolad shelter.
🏥Bought the equipment for the sterilisation team: a folding table, 4 chairs for on-site sterilisation and an insulated tent.
We brought 10 tonnes of extruded porridge to the animals.
❄️ Bought winter clothes for the UAnimals rescue team: 5 sets and 1 spare and additional protective set.
🐕Paid for treating 1 dog evacuated from Orikhiv with a ruptured diaphragm. The dog was operated on. Now, it is under the care of the Chance Animal Protection Service in Zaporizhzhia.
🐱Paid for tests for enteritis and panleukopenia for evacuated kittens and puppies from Donetsk region. The tests were negative.
🐈Paid for hospitalising an evacuated kitten from Pokrovsk diagnosed with anaemia. The kitten was in the clinic, but unfortunately, it could not be saved. It was cremated in the clinic.
🐱Paid the debt for the treatment of a kitten with panleiopenia. Earlier, we evacuated a cat from Kramatorsk. The kitten got sick in the shelter, and we had to return it to the clinic for a few days. The animal has been discharged from the clinic and transferred to the KotoHata shelter in Kyiv.
🐕Paid for a rehabilitation course for the evacuated dog Alisa from Orikhiv, who is recovering at the Step Up Centre. Alisa has finally started to get her paws on the ground and is learning to walk again.
🔅Paid for the treatment, purchase of veterinary medicines and care for the evacuated cats “Prince and Kherson” (both rescued from Kherson), who are now in Kyiv, in the shelter “Kotonoski”.
🐎Supported the Zelenyi Hai Rehabilitation Centre and provided financial assistance for hay harvesting for the winter period, as well as the purchase of antibiotics, treatment products, vaccines, and injection solutions for 527 animals (including horses, ponies, donkeys, goats, sheep, pigs, rabbits, birds, dogs, and cats).
❤️ We paid for producing 5 wheelchairs for animals with disabilities: Bonnie, Sandy, Rex, Barry and Bob. The animals are under the care of the “Homeless World” Centre in Kyiv.
🛻More about the Evacuation. This month, we rescued:
📍from Donetsk Oblast (Lyman, Toretsk, Pokrovsk, Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk): 23 puppies, 11 dogs, 1 cat and 9 kittens;
📍from Kherson region: 1 person, 68 goats, 1 dog, 2 puppies;
Another 54 animals from Kherson and the region (Chornobaivka, Stanislav, Nova Tyahynyka, Sadove, Komyshany);
📍36 animals from Vyshniaky Island: 27 cats, 6 dogs, 2 chickens, 1 duck;
22 animals from Donetsk region (Kurakhovo, Pokrovsk, Avdiivka);
📍14 ducks, 7 dogs, 17 puppies, 5 cats (Kramatorsk, Pokrovsk, the outskirts of Soledar, New York, and Bilytske);
📌27 animals we transported, namely:
🦢2 injured swans rescued by the Chernihiv SES in the city;
🐶13 puppies, 9 dogs, 2 cats and 2 people were transported to Lviv, Khmelnytskyi, Starokonstantinov, and Pirvanchyi. All animals were previously evacuated from Kherson and Donetsk regions, except for 4 dogs and 1 cat. These animals were transported with their owners at their request.
🐕1 dog was transported from Babynets shelter to Khmelnytskyi region. It is Brown, a dog we had previously evacuated from Kherson with a front paw injury.
🐕We also supported the NGO “Territory of Kindness. Pervomaisk” and financed the operation and hospitalisation for the dog.
Provided financial assistance to the Ya-Natsiya Charitable Foundation to purchase veterinary medicines for 192 animals, 94 of which are in Orikhiv.
🐱Supported the Phoenix Charitable Foundation for Animals and helped purchase medicines and food for animals.
Legal department:
Prepared permission to use the logo (urbanstvo.ua).
🐾Drafted a contract to provide veterinary services (individual entrepreneur Vorotnikov).

Prepared contracts with new employees and documents for settling accounts with dismissed employees.

📌 Appeals and legislative work of the legal department:
🚑We went to sterilise, treat, vaccinate and chip animals in villages and towns bordering the enemy, namely Kurakhivka, Druzhkivka in Donetsk region and Velyka Pysarivka, Okhtyrka in Sumy region.
🛁Paid for post-sterilisation care services for 50 animals in the town of Seredina-Buda in Sumy region.
💉Paid for tests for 5 cats from the Kotohata shelter.
🔅In addition, the Community volunteers distributed 2,590 kilograms of animal feed in 13 difficult areas. These are 6 frontline regions and 31 villages in Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions. Together, we have
We fed 1,100 animals.
🧹70 volunteers in 9 regions of Ukraine joined the cleaning of shelters in Ukraine.
We organised a photo day in shelters: 45 photographers took photos in 11 shelters in 8 regions of Ukraine. Thanks to the photos taken by our volunteers, we know of 2 cases when animals were taken to families🙌.
🐈🐕 We were walking animals in shelters. 17 volunteers from the Community joined us.
📚 We held the first All-Ukrainian Humane Book Award, honouring 3 authors and 3 illustrators.
❤️ We congratulated little Maxim on the holidays, who wrote a letter to St Nicholas asking him to give food to a cat instead of asking for gifts for himself.
🔅Participated in the Civil Society Forum.
🐐On 13 December, we launched a Festive Fundraiser for tailed kids and completed it. All the animals will receive their gifts in January thanks to you 🤗
On 15 December, we attended the Animal Politics World Conference.
🕷 Submitted a grant application to the German Marshal Fund and keep our fingers crossed.
🐾Received 5 711 kilograms of food from Josera! We are sending it to the animals.
