In July, We Helped at Least
2,900 Animals
In July:
🚌 We evacuated 219 pets and a turtle.
🐮 We provided 12,570 kilograms of food for 2,508 animals.
🐱 We sterilized 181 animals: 122 cats and 59 dogs.
🛠 We paid for the construction of an enclosure for squirrel cubs taken care of by the Kyiv Animal Rescue Team.
⚖️ We helped to protect animals by providing legal assistance in 44 cases, preparing and submitting six reports on administrative offenses, five reports and a request regarding improper animal keeping conditions, mobile zoos, and animal abuse.
🌳 We held a clean-up march in five national parks in Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Khmelnytskyi, and Volyn regions. We engaged 300 activists and removed 15 tons of garbage.

🐾 We paid for the examination and treatment of the evacuated cat Prince, who was previously evacuated from Kherson. Prince underwent examinations and tests for viruses, ultrasound, and was diagnosed with gastritis and sand in his bladder. The cat was prescribed antibiotic therapy. Volunteer Daryna Kukuruzniak is taking care of the cat. He is currently under the care of the Kotonosyky shelter in Kyiv.
🐾 We paid for the boarding of the evacuated cat Siryi from the village of Koma, Donetsk region. The animal was evacuated at the request of Viktor, a soldier. After the boarding stay, Siryi was handed over to Viktor’s relatives in Chernihiv.
🐾 We paid for the surgery of the evacuated shepherd dog Greta from Bilyi Kolodiaz, Kharkiv region. The dog had a massive hernia. Doctors found that the hernia had been there for a long time and had affected the condition of the dog’s internal organs. Unfortunately, Greta died despite all efforts to save the animal.
🐾 We paid for the treatment of four puppies we evacuated from Kherson at the request of soldiers. The puppies were temporarily kept at the Tobias NGO, but later they were diagnosed with enteritis. The animals were urgently transferred to a veterinary hospital for inpatient treatment. Unfortunately, one puppy died. The condition of the other three has stabilized, and they are still under medical supervision.
🐾 We paid for the treatment of Vuhlynka, a dog who was evacuated from Kherson region in serious condition with burns. Now the animal is feeling much better, her condition is gradually stabilizing. During the next trip we will bring Vuhlynka back to her humans.
🐾 We evacuated 219 animals:
From the Kharkiv region: Pisky-Radkivske and Kurylivka;
Donetsk region: Toretsk, Kurakhove, Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk, Sloviansk, Selidove, Myrnohrad, Novozhelanne, Orlivka, Hirnyk, and Hrodivka;
Kherson and the region: Chornobaivka, Tokarivka, Antonivka, Komyshany, and Inhulets;
🐾 We also brought a dog from Dnipro to Zhytomyr to its owner. Also we transported a dog, a cat and three kittens from a Kyiv veterinary clinic to their family in Kirovohrad region. At our request, these animals were taken by the 12 Vartovykh team from Hirnyk. Many thanks to them!
🐾 Also, as part of one of the missions, we delivered 135 kilograms of feed to the Shans Zhyty (Chance to Live) NGO in Ternivka, Dnipropetrovsk region, since the organization had taken in evacuated animals.
🐾 We paid for the transportation of 12 tons of oats to feed the horses we had previously helped evacuate to Chernihiv region from a stable in Derhachi, Kharkiv region.
🐈 We supported the Feniks charity organization and donated financial assistance to pay for the dog Dana’s treatment and purchase medicinal food.
🐾 We received 4546.7 kilograms of feed from our partners Josera Ukraine.
🐾 We received donations from Squad, VSL, and Viseven organizations.
UAnimals lawyers worked to protect animal rights:
🐾 Provided legal assistance on 44 applications.
🐾 Filed 6 reports on administrative offenses. Among them were reports on animal abuse and improper conditions for keeping wild animals.
🐾 Continue to monitor the case of dog poisoning in Berdychiv, Zhytomyr region.
🐾 Filed an appeal to the Sobi Club country complex with a request to provide proper conditions for the decorative rabbits living on the territory of the complex.
🐾 Filed an appeal to the administration of the Plaza Park shopping and entertainment center to ban the operation of wild animal exhibitions, mobile menageries and mobile zoos, as well as the distribution of advertising about such exhibitions.
🐾 Initiated an unscheduled inspection of the Medveno Safari Park to check the living conditions of the animals.
🐾 Submitted a proposal to local self-government authorities to revise the rules and the ability to bring pets into shops and food service establishments.
🐾 Submitted a request to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources regarding the number of permits/certificates issued to the Zviropolis Contact Zoo Limited Liability Company for keeping wild animals in captivity.
We continue to work on new bills and amendments to existing laws that would improve the conditions of animal welfare and living conditions:
🗂 In particular, we completed work on the bill banning euthanasia: we held another joint meeting with the legal department and an assistant MP, discussed the bill, made final adjustments, and prepared a comparative table based on the results.
🐾 We started working on the preparation of UAnimals training for the police and prosecutors of Ukraine to improve investigations of animal abuse cases.
🐾 We took part in the consideration of Bill 11328, which proposes to ban the participation of pets in advertising, exhibitions or other events.
We can also tell you about the achievements of the UAnimals Volunteer Community:
🐾 The Community’s volunteers joined the fundraiser for the military and their animals and opened 20+ additional collection accounts for a total of UAH 120,000.
🐾 Together with our partners, the Center for Civil Liberties, our volunteers started inspecting bomb shelters to check their adequacy and accessibility, including for animals. We organized groups in 14 cities of Ukraine and held training. We have already checked 25 shelters in Kyiv, Mykolaiv, and Vinnytsia.
🐾 Our volunteers have evacuated 17 animals and a turtle from Selidove, Donetsk region.
🐾 Our volunteers have distributed 400 kilograms of animal food in Mykolaiv and Kharkiv regions.
🐾 Our volunteers connected 5 volunteer dog experts with seven shelters in Kyiv, Odesa, and Kharkiv regions to help animals with behavioral trauma.
