UAnimals lawyers continue to fight for animal rights:

  • This month, the bot received 55 requests for legal assistance, lawyers responded to 54 requests, and 1 request was taken into consideration.
  • The experts completed work on changes to the rules for transporting pets (cats, dogs, small birds) on buses, prepared proposals and submitted them to representatives of the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine.
  • We finalized changes to the procedure for feeding service dogs. The current procedure approved by the Cabinet of Ministers is outdated and does not allow for the purchase of quality pet food for service dogs. So the lawyers prepared and sent a proposal to the Prime Minister. We have already received a response that the proposal has been sent to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine for consideration.

The lawyers also continue to work on court cases:

  • On March 03, the Zhytomyr District Administrative Court resumed proceedings in the case against the Zviropolis zoo regarding the illegality of its activities, which had been suspended for an indefinite period.

As a reminder, in September 2024, UAnimals lawyers filed a lawsuit against the Zviropolis petting zoo chain, demanding that their activities be declared illegal due to the lack of animal keeping permits and demanding that the animals be confiscated.

In December 2024, the court suspended the proceedings and demanded evidence of the inspection from the State Environmental Inspectorate. But the State Ecological Inspectorate never provided all the necessary evidence. The court made a separate decision on the failure of the State Ecological Inspectorate to comply with the court requirements and ordered it to take appropriate measures.

We are awaiting the court’s decision in this case.

  • On March 14, a court hearing was held in the case of cruelty to a dog in the village Chabany. The Kyiv-Svyatoshinsky District Court found the dog’s owner guilty of committing an administrative offense and fined him $82 and confiscated the dog.

On February 24, volunteer Anna turned to UAnimals for help. Anna saw a man in the Kyiv region beating a dog with his hands and feet and then forcibly dragging the tied animal by the chain. The dog was tortured on private property.

UAnimals filed a report with the police about the cruelty to the animal. The police officer drew up an administrative report under Article 89 of the Code of Administrative Offenses

The man is appealing the decision of the Kyiv-Svyatoshinsky District Court. The hearing in the Kyiv Court of Appeal is scheduled for April 24, 2025.

We are grateful for the support of caring people who help us fight for animal rights, even though it is always very difficult. But we are sure that animal rights are just as important and worth fighting for!

Our partners also supported us in March:

  • As part of the Paw of Care initiative, we received $14,954 from Master Zoo pet store chain to conduct veterinary missions in the frontline areas.
  • The Danish Fund for Animal Welfare supported our veterinary missions and transferred 4,450 to support us.
  • We received $2,404 from our partners Savory and SUZIRIA to support the Ukrainian Animal Protection Award.

We are pleased to have such strong support from our friends and partners. Thanks to this, we continue to save animals from the war and cruelty!

Our most cherished dream is to ensure that all animals live in families, have rights and are protected from cruelty and exploitation, so we continue to work for this. We thank everyone who supports us on this journey!
