In May, with your help, we continued to feed, treat, sterilise and transport animals from the war zone. We also launched a Wild Fundraiser to develop our Wild Animal Rescue Centre so that we can treat and rehabilitate even more predators affected by exploitation and the horrors of shelling in comfortable conditions. We are grateful to everyone who supports us with money, information or other means.

In May 2023:
● we managed to help 16,909 animals (4,533 animals received financial assistance, 3,045 animals were sterilised, 9,059 animals received feed, and 275 animals and 4 beehives were evacuated);
● the total amount of financial expenses was UAH 5,301,922. This amount includes financial assistance, payment for sterilisations, reconstruction of shelters, project implementation, purchase and shipment of feed, logistics, purchase of medicines and treatment, evacuation, costs of supporting wild animals of the Natalia Popova Wild Animal Rescue Centre and UAnimals, administrative costs, and purchases on request. ● 30 166 kg of food, vitamins and medicines for dogs and cats were sent from our warehouse to 40 cities/towns in Ukraine
● 3,045 animals were sterilised as part of our free sterilisation programme for stray animals. We also carried out on-site sterilisations in Voznesensk (Mykolaiv region), Holovanivsk (Kirovohrad region), Okhtyrka (Sumy region) and Slobozhanske (Kharkiv region);
● Our legal department sent 5 statements to the police regarding animal cruelty, 2 appeals, 2 inquiries, and 1 complaint. Held a meeting with the Humane Society, the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection and the State Tax Service to discuss current problems with border crossings with animals, provided advice on animal protection issues received by hotline and dealt with other applications, contracts, letters, memoranda and inquiries.

– purchased and sent vaccines, treatment products, antibiotics and other veterinary medicines for 1,785 pets (cats and dogs) and 67 domestic animals (horses, cows, goats), and 1 snake;
– assisted with the purchase of 3,500 kg of hay for 47 goats, 4 horses, 6 ponies and 18 sheep to the NGO Avelen Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre in Odesa;
– purchased and donated 10 tonnes of hay for the Vuhlyk shelter in Mykolaiv region, which has 60 ungulates under its care, as part of the hay project;
– assisted with the purchase of veterinary medicines and feed for 42 predators, 418 domestic animals, 1,390 cats and dogs in the temporarily occupied Kakhovka, Hola Prystan, Melitopol, Berdiansk and Svatove;
– paid for blood tests and biochemistry of a seriously ill cat from Kherson, as well as treatment of a seriously ill evacuated cat Kuzi from Orikhiv and examination of Aurora, a cat evacuated from Donetsk region, with a kitten;
– helped to pay for the surgery of a donkey evacuated from Seversk, whose part of a paw was cut off as a result of a shell explosion;
– supported 40 animals (roe deer, hares, pheasants) of the Vyzhnytskyi National Park and helped to buy feed for them;
– evacuated: 12 dogs and 11 cats from Ochakiv, Kherson, Odesa Oblast; 4 beehives from Toretsk (Donetsk Oblast); 3 puppies from Sloviansk and 39 animals from Avdiivka (2 puppies, 12 dogs, 20 cats, 5 kittens) and 2 owls from Sumy Oblast; 8 cats (taken by the military from Stanislav village, Kherson Oblast, and 1 dog from Kherson); 61 animals from Lyman (12 cats and cats, 14 kittens, 12 dogs and 23 puppies); 42 animals from Orikhiv (3 cats, 5 kittens, 4 dogs and 30 puppies); a mother and child and their 12 cats from Druzhkivka; transported a spinal dog Chornushka from Odesa to Lviv; 70 animals from Donetsk region; 12 animals from Kherson and Mykolaiv region;
– purchased planks for three dog enclosures and an enclosure for an evacuated horse at the Zolota Pidkova animal centre in Mykolaiv region for UAH 41,999.99;
– purchased construction materials for 3 enclosures at the Naydusha shelter in Kharkiv for UAH 46,751;
– purchased construction materials for the quarantine room of the Babynets shelter for UAH 33839.64 and construction materials for cages for UAH 90,978.72;
– helped Svitlana Levkovska with tick and parasite treatment products for stray animals in Kolychivka (Mykolaiv region);
– helped with rabies vaccines for Larysa Pyatibrat’s animals in Kherson;
– launched a Wild Fundraiser for the development of our Wild Animal Rescue Centre;
– Ivan Marunych from the KARTA SVITU band together with the dog Patron opened a fundraiser for houses for animals affected by the war;
– launched a flash mob #FotkayAnimalsNePPO;
– Together with MEGOGO, we invented virtual films. The money for “watching” which goes to the reconstruction of our Wild Animal Rescue Centre as part of the Wild Fundraiser;
– UAnimals activists held single pickets in the cities of the UK, Germany, Spain, Norway, and the Czech Republic to draw the world’s attention to the destruction of the unique Dzharylgach Island by Russians – the actions were held as part of the #StopEcocideUkraine campaign;
– 11 puppies evacuated from the war zone found homes at the Thai Charity Market (together with Thai Hello and Hostomel Shelter);
– sold 60 T-shirts and 18 hoodies of the joint charity collection with Morningstar;
– sold another 142 pairs of socks from the DodoSocks charity collection;
– launched the Celebration Platform for those who want to celebrate important events for the benefit of animals;
– received another 3024 kg from Josera;
– received 13 tonnes of feed from our partners from Finland, Animal Aid without Borders, and the Netherlands, Animal Heroes
– partnered with the international organisation IFAW.
