September 2023

In September, we continued to rescue and evacuate, feed and treat, sterilise and support financially those who needed help. We are grateful to every person who joined us in helping animals.

Thanks to you, we have helped

20 568 animals

During the month, we managed to help 20 568 animals (financially supported 2 421 animals, sterilised 2 879 animals, sent food for 15 155 animals and evacuated 113 animals).

More about September:
🚛 we sent 32,748 kilograms of feed for 15,155 animals;

💉 sterilised 2,879 animals – 1,801 cats and 1,078 dogs in Dobrovelychkivka and Vilshanka (Kropyvnytskyi region), Reni (Odesa region), Toretsk (Donetsk region), Pershotravensk (Dnipro region), Yahotyn and Hostomel (Kyiv region), and Kegychivka (Kharkiv region) as part of our free sterilisation programme for stray animals in more than 30 cities across Ukraine;

🐾 evacuated 113 animals (1 goat, 1 horse, 111 dogs and cats) from Kherson and Donetsk regions (Lyman, Kramatorsk, Avdiivka, Druzhkivka, Katerynivka, Toretsk, Kurakhove, Biletske, Sloviansk);

☝️ also, the employees of our legal department sent 11 applications to the police in animal protection cases, concluded 3 contracts, provided more than ten consultations, filed a draft complaint to the court, sent the necessary letters of guarantee, and worked on the humanitarian reform.

We also:
🐾 purchased 450 rabies vaccines for animals in Kherson;
paid for sterilisation, vaccination, and chipping of 450 animals in flooded villages in Kherson Oblast as part of the assistance to animals affected by the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station tragedy;

🐾 purchased and donated antibiotics, medicinal ointments and shampoos, eye drops, wound powders, ear drops, vaccines, and treatment products for 1488 cats and dogs in Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Sumy, Khotyn, Pavlysh (Kropyvnytskyi region), and Kushuhum (Zaporizhzhia region); as well as antiseptics, antibiotics, anthelmintics, painkillers, wound healing medicines for 29 horses living at the Horse Paradise social ranch in Kyiv region (rehabilitates injured sports horses, those who have been abused and those evacuated from the war zone, in particular from Kharkiv region) and treatment for 450 animals in villages in Kherson region affected by the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station;

🐾 assisted with the purchase of feed and veterinary medicines for 603 dogs and cats in the temporarily occupied cities Kakhovka, Oleshky Melitopol, Tokmakh, Skadovsk, Berdiansk, Hola Prystan, as well as for 19 animals in Toretsk (Nova Poshta does not operate in the city);

🐾 paid for treating 7 cats previously evacuated from Kherson and Donetsk regions. Now the animals are in Kyiv, in the Kotonoski shelter;
🐾paid for the surgery of Lucky, a puppy evacuated from Kherson region. Lucky is now under the care of the Sumy Society for the Protection of Animals;

🐾 paid for the surgery of the evacuated dog Gabi, who was taken to a new family in a severe condition. Now, the animal is in the village of Rohozyanka (Kharkiv region);

🐾 provided assistance to pay for the treatment of Chornysh, a dog who came under the care of the Phoenix Charity Foundation after the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station with acute pneumonia and a tumour in his lungs, spleen and testis. The dog underwent surgery to remove the tumours but still needs rehabilitation, additional tests and medicines. Now, the dog lives in Boryspil, Kyiv region;

🐾 paid for the inpatient treatment of 6 kittens. The animals were taken out of Kherson after the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station was blown up in a severe condition, with intestinal infections and eye inflammation. They were in a viral hospital for a long time. Now they are in Kyiv at the shelter “Dvornyashkam dom”;

🐾 paid for the operation to remove teeth from a sick cat Prince, evacuated from Kherson after the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station. Now he is in Kyiv, in the Kotonoski shelter;

🐾 supported the Kotofei shelter in Nikopol, which has 145 cats under its care. They asked for financial assistance to purchase firewood to heat the shelter during the cold season;

🐾 Supported the Zdrave Zhyttia cow shelter in Vinnytsia region and helped to purchase a grain crusher;

🐾 supported the shelter of Tetiana Vozna in Kyiv, which has 200 dogs under her care, including animals with disabilities. Tetiana asked for help purchasing a wheelchair for her dog Kashtan (evacuated from Kyiv region) and a brace for her dog Barbos (who came to the shelter from Mariupol before the outbreak of full-scale war). Both dogs are disabled;

🐾 assisted with the purchase of hay for 29 horses to the Horse Paradise social ranch (rehabilitates injured sports horses, those who have been abused, and those who have been evacuated from the war zone, in particular from Kharkiv region)

🐾 supported the Kramatorsk Regional Landscape Park, which takes care of
70 animals (wild pigs, rabbits, donkeys, sheep, roe deer, spotted deer, foxes, peacocks, pheasants, swans) and assisted with the purchase of hay, wheat and oats;

🐾 supported the Roztochia Nature Public Environmental Association and the Roztochia Nature Reserve, which take care of storks (including those listed in the CCU), and provided funds for the purchase of food for the birds, as well as for the arrangement of a protective area for them (namely, the purchase of a net);

🐾 800 more people joined the UAnimals community;

🐾 organised and conducted the All-Ukrainian Cleanup March in 9 regions of Ukraine, where 750 people collected 28,300 kg of garbage;

🐾 took a family with a husky out of the occupied Kherson region;

🐾 launched the communication of the new book The Rescued Animals Club, from the sale of which hryvnias will go to save animals from the war;

🐾 community volunteers made 4 feed distributions in problematic areas and distributed 500 kg of feed;

🐾 launched a raffle with VeAn Tattoo as part of the Wild Fundraiser;

🐾 completed the fundraising with UkrSibbank and raised 649 thousand for heat pumps for the Wild Animal Rescue Centre;

🐾 received support from PesDay for 166,473 hryvnias;

🐾 received and distributed 5,205 kg of food from Josera;

🐾 launched the Paw of Care campaign in the MasterZoo pet store chain in partnership with Visa;

🐾launched the UAnimals page on the buymeacoffee platform;

🐾 partnered with dobro.ua;

🐾signed a memorandum of cooperation with the European Congress of Ukrainians;
received assistance in the amount of 428450 hrivnas from the sale of sticker packs in support of the Wild Fundraiser from the MasterZoo store chain;

🐾 financed the construction of kennels and purchase of wood and sawdust for the shelter of animal volunteer Tamara Pastukh (120 dogs and 26 cats) for 54037.27 hryvnias

🐾 financed the construction of a fence for the shelter of the NGO Help and Protection (165 dogs, 80 cats, 10 horses, 130 goats, 2 ponies and a donkey) 57,000 hryvnias.
