In September, UAnimals provided aid to at least
10,000 animals
In September:
🐾 Sent 15,653 kilograms of food to animals in border areas.
🐶 Paid for vaccinations and veterinary check-ups for 40 puppies rescued from the Donetsk region.
🐑 Evacuated 211 pets and farm animals from frontline areas.
🐛 Volunteers collected 10,000 tons of trash during the Cleanup March in fall.
💊 Vaccinated 500 cats and dogs in shelters against enteritis.
💉 Helped 390 animals during the Vetmission in the Kharkiv region.
📢 Called on the International Criminal Court to hold Russia accountable for ecocide, particularly for the destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant.
🙂 In total, 6,013,147.37 UAH [~$145,829] was spent on animal aid in September.
💡 More details about our September efforts:
🐾 15,653 kilograms of food were delivered to 4,726 animals.
🐾 Covered the costs of temporary shelter, veterinary check-ups, and external parasite treatments for 9 evacuated dogs, 2 cats, and a kitten.
🐾 Paid for the temporary shelter, check-ups, and treatments of five more evacuated dogs.
🐾 Funded the second stage of post-operative care for tumor removal surgeries for three dogs: Berta (discharged and transported to Mala Dzyha), Miya (discharged and taken to Forsaken Angel), and Melisa (ready for discharge and awaiting transport to her new family).
🐾 Sterilized, vaccinated, and treated for parasites the evacuated dogs Fayina, Malysha, Naida, Hrom, and Tina from the Donetsk region.
🐾 Paid for veterinary check-ups and vaccinations for 40 puppies evacuated from the Donetsk region.
🐾 Assisted the Kharkiv rescue service in evacuating 25 dogs from Druzhkivka, Donetsk region, to the Kyiv region.
🐾 Evacuated 25 animals from Hirnyk, Pokrovsk, Novoekonomichne, Novopavlivka, Novyi Donbas, Selydove, Lyman, and Petrivka.
🐑 Transported five kittens previously evacuated from Donetsk from Dnipro to Kyiv at the request of Save Animals Ukraine.
🐾 Evacuated 23 animals from Selydove, Novooleksiivka, Vyshneve, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, and Zolotyi Kolodyaz in the Donetsk region.
🐾 Transported a dog from the Dnipropetrovsk region to a shelter in Hostomel, Kyiv region.
🐾 Evacuated 28 animals from Kurakhove, Kurakhivka, Sontsivka, Pokrovsk, Zvirove, Sloviansk, and Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region, as well as 8 farm animals and a cat.
🐾 Also evacuated 21 animals from Kurakhove, Myrnohrad, Rivne, Pokrovsk, and Petrivka in the Donetsk region, and transported two sheep, Prima and Vuhlynka, from Zelenyi Hai to the Pegasus shelter.
🐾 Evacuated 28 animals from Pokrovsk, Bilytske, Sloviansk, and Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region.
🐑 In total, our teams evacuated 150 animals in September and transported 17 more, including two pigs, two sheep, and six goats.
Volunteers from the Community joined the rescue missions again! 💘
🐾 Volodymyr Holubyev evacuated 27 animals from the Donetsk region.
🐾 Volunteers Mariya and Andrii evacuated 34 animals from the Donetsk region.
🐾 During the evacuation missions, we delivered 970 kilograms of food for cats and dogs to shelters that are housing evacuated animals, such as Mala Dzyha, Zoofamily, Another Dimension, and Chance to Live.
🐾 Organized the Cleanup March at seven forest locations in six regions of Ukraine, collecting 10 tons of trash.
🐾 Launched two online campaigns to spread awareness about international #StopEcocideUkraine efforts and the Ticket to Rescue Animals project, with 200 participants joining.
🐾 Engaged volunteers in three rescue missions:
🐾 Distributed 1,450 kilograms of food to animals in the Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and Kharkiv regions.
🐾 Distributed 167 parasite treatments in the Mykolaiv and Kharkiv regions. The volunteer community also helped launch Support Jars for the Winter Fundraiser.
🐾 Completed a campaign to check the basic accessibility and animal-friendliness of bomb shelters. In three months, nearly 500 bomb shelters in ten Ukrainian cities were inspected.
🐾 Held a Photo Day for shelter animals in five regions of Ukraine, with 20 volunteer photographers participating.
🐾 In August, we launched the Protect 500 Animals from Enteritis project, which we completed in September. This month, we sent treatments and combination vaccines for 202 cats and 159 dogs in shelters.
In total, 250 cats and 250 dogs received aid throughout the project.
🐾 The Vetmission.Kharkiv Region was held. The team worked in villages of the Kharkiv region situated just 6 kilometers from the frontline and provided help to 390 animals.
🐾 Covered the cost of treatment for Valik, a dog injured during enemy shelling in the Odesa region.
🐾 Sent 200 combination vaccines against infectious diseases and 200 parasite treatments for dogs in Toma Pastukh’s shelter.
🐾 Delivered 255 kilograms of dog food and 252 kilograms of cat food to a shelter in Hlukhiv.
🐾 Sterilized 36 animals Tetiana Nelha’s shelter. We had previously evacuated these animals.
🐾 We are preparing for the next Vetmission in October, already purchasing materials and medications.
🐾 Delivered 160 vaccines and 55 parasite treatments for cats and dogs to the Forsaken Angel shelter.
🐾 Delivered 1,909 kilograms of food for animals in Kostiantynivka and Kramatorsk.
🐾 Sent 936 cat collars to four shelters.
🐾 As part of the fundraiser for wildlife feeders in Khortytsia, we covered the cost of making the feeders, amounting to 51,000 UAH.
🐾 Contributed 87,300 UAH to a fundraiser for building an enclosure and installing a water source as part of the effort to rescue nine fallow deer.
🐛 Using funds from the oxygen concentrator fundraiser for sick animals in shelters, we purchased and distributed eight concentrators, worth a total of 140,976 UAH.
🐾 In September, 49 requests for legal assistance were submitted via our chatbot. The most common issues were related to the use of firearms resulting in the death of dogs, with the majority of requests coming from Kyiv and Lviv.
🐾 Filed a report of an administrative violation with the Podil Police Department in the Kyiv region regarding the breeding and keeping of Sphynx cats in unacceptable conditions, specifically, in a filthy unit in a garage cooperative.
🐾 Submitted a criminal complaint in the Rivne region, where an unknown man inflicted injuries on a dog, likely leading to its death.
🐾 Sent a report to the Main Police Department in the Khmelnytskyi Region about an incident where an unidentified male, possibly a minor, forced half a bottle of alcoholic drink down a dog’s throat.
🐾 Filed a report of administrative violations with the police in the Poltava region regarding a man walking a leopard.
🐾 Submitted a criminal report in Lviv for animal cruelty, where a man beat a dog to death with a shovel.
👆 We drafted and submitted the following regulatory documents:
🐾 Conducted a joint monitoring of shelter accessibility for people with animals, resulting in an Analysis of the report on problems with accessibility of bomb shelters with animals.
🐾 Analyzed the draft order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on the Procedure for Issuing Permits for Keeping Wild Animals, prepared a conclusion and proposals on the Procedure for Issuing Permits for Keeping Wild Animals, and analyzed the Law of Ukraine “On Amendments to the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses to Improve Liability for Waste Management Offenses”.
