ABOUT THIS FUNDRAISER

Support the initiative of the Chernobyl Biosphere Reserve and help its employees arrange nest boxes for endangered birds.

In particular, with the raised funds, reserve staff will purchase materials and craft 30 bird houses, where birds such as the European roller, stock dove, and goldeneye can settle. There are currently up to 10 pairs of rollers and pigeons remaining in the area, while the goldeneye does not nest at all, only migrates over the swamps and forests.

These birds usually nest in hollows near water bodies and there are not enough suitable places in the natural environment of the reserve. With these nest boxes, rare birds will have additional conditions for breeding and increasing their population. This way, we can support and preserve rare species.

The bird houses will be made of wood and treated with linseed oil. Reserve staff have already begun to make and install such shelters themselves, and now they are asking for our support to scale up their initiative.
