Fundraiser to build an enclosure for cats at a shelter in Odesa

We are raising $6,099 to build a large enclosure for cats at Otrymai Druha (Get a Friend) shelter in Odesa.

The shelter is home to about 100 cats, each with a difficult story. Some of them were picked up from the street in poor condition. Then, they were brought to the shelter, where they have a chance for life, care, and love.

Due to the lack of a suitable area for outside walks, the animals are forced to stay indoors all the time. This can worsen their physical and emotional state, increase stress, and exacerbate diseases. That is why they need fresh air, sun, and space for movement.

An enclosure that exists in the shelter can accommodate only 15 cats at a time, so those who are more active and do not have acute symptoms are the first to go for walks. The rest have to be left indoors.

We want to change this and build a spacious, safe 92 m² enclosure.

The enclosure will be completely closed with a metal mesh on the top and sides. This is important as there are dogs living in the shelter.

The space is designed so that most animals can go on walks at the same time.

The paths will be tiled, and the structure itself will be reliable and durable with wooden beams and a metal frame.
